Hello, this is Refton Dermatology.
Recently, Refton Dermatology held an in-house seminar on Ulthera Prime.
When we introduce a new device, we do not simply learn its functions and use it. In clinical practice, we always think about and continuously study how to use it in a way that can deliver the most satisfying results for our patients.

This Ulthera Prime seminar was also part of that research process, and it was a meaningful time to share ways to use Ulthera Prime more precisely and in a more patient-tailored manner.
Why is Ulthera Prime special?

Ulthera is a device whose effectiveness and safety have long been proven.
The latest version, Ulthera Prime, has even greater resolution and precision, allowing for a more detailed view of the structures within the skin and precise delivery of energy to the needed areas.
Even when performing the same 300-shot treatment, the results can vary greatly depending on which layer is treated and how it is delivered.
Ulthera Prime makes a far more precise approach possible in this regard, which can help improve satisfaction.
However, because each patient’s skin condition, pattern of aging, skin thickness, and elasticity are different, it is difficult to achieve the expected results with a simple mechanical manual alone.
In this seminar, based on actual clinical experience, we shared how to modify the standard protocol and optimize it in a patient-specific way.
In particular, we covered in detail—with concrete examples—the importance of energy targeting that considers both the dermis and the SMAS layer, as well as shot-count adjustments and layer-by-layer approaches to maximize treatment effects.
Advantages of the 1.5 transducer

Another key point emphasized in this seminar was the use of the 1.5TD.
While conventional Ulthera mainly focused on the lower dermis and SMAS layer, the 1.5TD can deliver energy precisely to more superficial layers, including the upper dermis.
Through actual clinical cases, we explained that this can provide not only lifting effects but also additional benefits such as pore reduction, improved skin texture, and reduction of fine lines.
In fact, when I perform procedures, I achieve both overall improvement in skin texture and increased elasticity by appropriately using the 1.5TD.
By sharing this at the seminar, I was able to exchange that experience with the doctors who attended.
Hands-on learning directly in the clinical setting

At this seminar, we did not only cover theory; we also held a hands-on session where the doctors could directly identify treatment points and operate the device themselves.
Rather than ending after a lecture, we structured the session so that participants could personally learn energy settings, shot placement, and patient-specific application points using the actual device.
Although it was a short time, I also found great meaning in being able to share practical know-how that can be applied immediately in the clinic.
Ulthera Prime, possibilities beyond lifting

In the Q&A session that followed the lecture and practical training, there was an in-depth discussion about the clinical expandability of Ulthera Prime.
There was active exchange of opinions on not only the standalone effects of lifting procedures, but also what role Ulthera Prime can play in combination treatments with skin boosters, lasers, fillers, and more, as well as what communication strategies are needed to increase patient satisfaction.
I believe Ulthera Prime is not just a device, but a tool that makes it possible to establish patient-tailored treatment strategies based on clinical evidence and experience.
This seminar was meaningful to me because I was able to share my treatment philosophy and also exchange thoughts and know-how with other doctors.

Going forward, Refton Dermatology will continue to actively study and share the latest knowledge and treatment protocols, and do our best to provide patients with safer and more satisfying lifting results.
Thank you.
