Differences in the strength of the muscles that open the eyes, thickness and sagging of the eyelid skin, and whether ptosis is present can all make the two eyes look different.

So it is easy to think, “I can just make them match with double eyelid surgery,” but in reality, it is necessary to accurately identify the cause and combine the appropriate corrective procedure in order to achieve balanced results.

For example, in the case of one male patient who recently visited the clinic, there was a noticeable asymmetry with a clear difference in size between the right and left eyes. The diagnosis showed that, along with double eyelid surgery, the right eye had significant skin sagging, so 2 mm was removed, and only an incision was performed on the left side.

Also, because the strength of the muscles that open the eyes was different, ptosis correction was performed together with the procedure. On the right side, about 6 mm was advanced, and on the left side, about 2 mm was advanced, maximizing balance in the strength of both sides.

As a result, although the difference in eye size was obvious before surgery, photos taken immediately after surgery, during recovery (day 4), and after 3 months showed the eyes gradually becoming naturally balanced.

In male eye surgery, naturalness and functional balance are even more important than in women.

Women can make up for it with makeup, but men cannot hide it with makeup, so the key is a result that looks refreshed without being obvious.

Also, because uneven eyes vary greatly from person to person, the goal should be a naturally harmonious balance rather than perfect symmetry.

In other words, uneven eye correction cannot be solved with double eyelid surgery alone, and satisfactory results can be achieved only by appropriately combining various methods such as ptosis correction, skin excision, and muscle adjustment.

The important thing is to accurately diagnose the cause, and you should not forget that customized correction is needed accordingly.
