Hello, this is An Byung-joon Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’d like to talk about a double eyelid revision surgery case.
Many people consider revision surgery because they are unhappy with the result of the first surgery or because the line has changed over time.
At that point, revision surgery should not be a mechanical procedure that simply recreates the line,
but a process of carefully analyzing the previous problems and correcting the underlying cause.
Before surgery, residual adhesions and scar tissue were the problem
In this case, when the patient first visited, the line was uneven when the eyes were open, and there was a strong impression that the double eyelid crease was too thick.
As the double eyelid line became distorted, the eyes also felt tired, and there was an unnatural fold when the eyes were open.
This was because residual adhesions and scar tissue from the first surgery were interfering with the movement of the muscles that open the eyes.
So the surgical plan had to be even more carefully established.
The goal was to naturally preserve the existing line while releasing the adhesions and organizing the scar tissue to create a double eyelid that connects naturally.
The key was to restore the structure of the eyelid in a balanced way.
Meticulous attention bordering on obsession determines the result
This double eyelid revision surgery was performed along the existing incision line.
After the incision, the surrounding adhesions were carefully released to create space so the muscles could move naturally.
The areas with remaining scar tissue were removed, and the tension between the skin and muscles was readjusted in a balanced way.
These subtle differences are important points in creating symmetry and naturalness in both eyes.
12 months after surgery, it has become as natural as the original eyes
Right after surgery, there was swelling and slight tightness, but as time passed, the eye shape gradually settled into a softer, more defined appearance.
Now, 12 months later, the line has settled naturally and maintains a stable appearance, as if it had always been that way from the beginning.
The artificial impression has disappeared, and the strength used to open the eyes has become much more comfortable.
Double eyelid revision surgery is a delicate process that must consider the movement of the muscles, scar tissue, and even the skin’s elasticity.
True success is not the change seen right after surgery, but the natural appearance that remains even as time passes.
Good results come from a systematic approach
Revision surgery is a more difficult field than the first surgery.
Because the structure of the eyes has already changed, careful analysis and extensive experience must go hand in hand.
For 25 years, I have focused solely on eye surgery, and I approach each surgery with the mindset of re-reading each person’s eyes from the beginning.
If you are considering double eyelid revision surgery, it is important to take a detailed approach in a direction that can restore naturalness as well.
I hope this case can serve as a practical reference for those with similar concerns.
The double eyelid line is an important part of creating balance in the eyes and harmony in facial expressions.
With the extensive know-how of a board-certified plastic surgeon, naturalness can return.
