Finding a Natural Eye Shape with Double Eyelid Revision Surgery Using the Incision Method

Today, I’d like to talk mainly about incision-method cases, which are among the most frequently inquired-about types of double eyelid revision surgery.

When they are young, many people prefer a line that makes the eyes look large and striking,

but as time goes by, many begin to want a softer, more natural eye shape.

However, if there is already a surgical history, simply adjusting the line or removing scars alone will not produce the desired result.

Before surgery, the problem was an overly defined line

When this patient first visited the clinic, the width of the double eyelid was excessively wide, and an artificial look was strongly noticeable whenever the eyes were opened.

As the eyelid skin became thinner, the line became even more pronounced, and when the eyes were closed or the person smiled, overlapping folds created an awkward impression.

The biggest issue was that the adhesions formed from the previous surgery were interfering with the movement of the eye-opening muscle.

After making an incision along the existing scar area, the internal adhesions were carefully released, creating space so that the muscle could function naturally.

During this process, some unnecessary fat was removed, and the tension between the skin and muscle was adjusted so that the new line could settle in stably.

In particular, the skin thickness and muscle elasticity of both eyes were examined closely so that the balance on both sides could be adjusted naturally.

As such, each small difference is a factor that determines the symmetry and softness of the final result.

Naturalness is also important during recovery after surgery

Right after surgery, there is swelling and a feeling of tightness, but typically within one week the stitches are removed and recovery has progressed enough for daily life.

After about two weeks, the swelling goes down and the outline of the eye shape becomes visible,

and after one month, the natural double eyelid line settles into place.

As time passes, the scar becomes less noticeable, and the eyes change into a much softer and more comfortable appearance than before.

Many patients say, “My eyes look refreshed, but it doesn’t look like I had surgery.”
