[Seongsu Restaurants] Sea Urchin Pasta in Ttukseom, Honest Review of Hoho Shokudo in Seongsu-dong

The famous Hoho Shokudo from Daehak-ro has opened in Seongsu-dong.

Here is my honest review of Hoho Shokudo, where you can enjoy healthy Japanese home-style meals made with good ingredients.

Let's get started right away.

Hoho Shokudo is located between Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest Station,

and it is close to the Ttukseom Galbi Street area.

This is the Seongsu branch of Hoho Shokudo, which feels like a renovated two-story house with a small courtyard.

Shall we go inside along the path?

There is a staircase that goes straight to the second floor,

and if you go in to the right,

there is another space.

We were shown to the first floor.

It has a warm atmosphere.

This is the menu.

The first page had the full menu,

and the following pages included photos of the dishes.

We ordered the salmon rice bowl and sea urchin pasta,

and for a side, shrimp cream croquette.

They serve soup and sauce.

Sea urchin pasta.

The sea urchin is placed on top whole.

A staff member mixes it for you in person,

asks whether it's okay to take photos,

and waits.

They mix it thoroughly.

A pretty salmon rice bowl.

The salmon is really thick.

Overall, the portions are on the small side.

If you have a big appetite,

it would be good to order a side dish as well.

Shrimp cream croquette.

It comes in three large pieces.

It contains shrimp and a smooth cream filling.

Be careful, as it is hot.

The sea urchin pasta was somewhat underwhelming

compared to what I had expected.

According to my companion, the mentaiko pasta

was better.

The salmon rice bowl and cream croquette were also good,

but overall, the food felt a bit heavy.

They do provide pickled radish,

but for someone like me with a very Korean palate,

it was a meal that really needed kimchi.

And overall,

the prices are quite high.

But the servers were all friendly,

and the atmosphere was also quite nice.

That concludes my honest review of Hoho Shokudo in Seongsu-dong.
