[Euljiro Restaurant] Michelin Restaurant, Honest Review of Crystal Jade Sogong Branch

Last weekend, we had lunch at Crystal Jade Sogong Branch.

I was very excited to visit after hearing that you can also enjoy in Korea the Crystal Jade I always make a point of visiting when I travel to Hong Kong, and here is my honest review.

Crystal Jade Sogong Branch is close to Euljiro 1(il)-ga Station.

Exit toward Lotte Department Store, then walk through the alley between Avenuel and Young Plaza toward the Chosun Hotel. It is located on the right side.

We didn’t make a reservation.

It looks like there is no longer a break time starting June 1.

There is also information about summer-only menu items.

A strong Chinese vibe throughout.

It also seemed like they were selling takeaway items.

We were shown to a table for two in the main hall.

The menu had too much content, so I didn’t take photos.

It is described in detail on the website.

It seems the box we saw earlier was a takeaway-only one-person chef box.

We ordered half a Peking duck, dim sum, and a meal dish.

Even though we hadn’t made a reservation, we were able to eat Peking duck, probably because we went early.

They brought it to the table themselves and carved it there.

They separated the skin and the meat and plated it neatly for us.

The wheat pancakes were also prepared.

You eat it by placing cucumber and green onion strips on top of the skin.

If you order extra wheat pancakes, there is an additional charge of 5,000 won.

It was delicious, probably because it had been a while since we last had it.

It would have been better if the skin had been a bit crispier, though...

The ordered shumai dim sum arrived.

There were many dim sum items I wanted to try, but we had to eat other things too, so we ordered only shumai.

The taste was just so-so, more or less...

The leftover duck breast after carving can be chosen as soup, stir-fry, or fried.

We chose stir-fry.

It had a nice wok aroma and tasted good.

The jade crab meat fried rice we ordered as a meal.

It had no flavor at all. It wasn’t seasoned at all.

They said they normally season it very lightly, but... The Crystal Jade in Hong Kong wasn’t like this...

Instead, they gave us black bean sauce.

It was disappointing because it wasn’t the fried rice taste I had been hoping for.

The appearance was nice, though..

The egg soup that came with it was also bland and greasy, and had no seasoning at all.

Sichuan-style king prawn noodle soup.

The appearance made it seem like a spicy jjambbong-like dish, but it wasn’t spicy at all and was refreshing.

Again, by my standards, it tasted bland~!

I thought I should have ordered more dim sum instead~!

That’s the kind of feeling it gave me.

The Peking duck we had after a long time was delicious, but overall it was disappointing in terms of taste for the price.
