[Yeokchon-dong Restaurant] Chewy, Savory Meat That Tastes Great

With the Seoul metropolitan area’s social distancing level raised to 2.5,

these days I’ve mostly just been going back and forth between home and work,

so it’s been hard to visit good restaurants.

That’s why I’ve prepared this long-overdue post!!

I’d like to introduce a meat restaurant I visited a few months ago,

Solbat, a Yeokchon-dong restaurant in Eunpyeong-gu.

This restaurant is located in a purely residential neighborhood, not a busy commercial area,

and even just looking at the sign,

you can feel how long it has been around.

On top of that, it really gives off the vibe of a popular spot,

I met a friend who lives nearby,

and they said it was a restaurant recommended by local residents.

You can feel the passage of time even inside, right?

It seems to have appeared on TV a lot, because there were many photos from broadcast appearances and celebrity autographs everywhere.

The menu had only two items.

Ppobalsal and white meat.

I ordered one serving of each, and the owner asked me to choose between soybean paste stew and soft tofu stew.

I chose the soft tofu stew.

I’m not exactly sure which cuts they are.

They say the signature item is the white meat,

and it was really delicious, chewy and light.

Grilled deliciously over the fire.

Seasoned green onions come out with it,

and grilling those too was a great bonus.

The meat was cooking up nicely.

The side dishes were only onion soy sauce, garlic, chili peppers, chili paste,

kimchi, and lettuce,

so we could focus on the meat without any distractions.

The bubbling soft tofu stew appeared too!

The stew was really delicious too, so I mixed it thoroughly with a bowl of rice and finished it all.

A satisfying and filling meal!
