Hello :)
JW Jeongwon Plastic Surgery,
which delivers results.

Some people are especially bothered by a bulge in the armpit area.
Armpit fat that does not go away with dieting or exercise
may not be simple fat, but rather an "accessory breast."
What is an accessory breast?

A condition in which there are more than one pair of breasts
is called "polythelia/multiple breasts," and among these,
anything other than the original breast is called an accessory breast.
There is also a condition called a supernumerary nipple,
which has only a nipple shape without the form of a breast.
It usually appears in the armpit or along the side of the torso,
and because it looks like fat, it is sometimes mistaken for armpit fat.
Why do accessory breasts occur? Causes of accessory breasts

A person's mammary ridge forms in the fetus
from the armpit to the groin.
In most cases, mammary tissue forms only in the chest
and the rest regresses. If this regression
does not occur, it remains as an accessory breast.
As secondary sexual characteristics appear or during pregnancy,
it may increase in size,
and in some cases it may cause pain.
If left untreated, there is a rare possibility of developing
mastitis, tumors, and other issues, and it is also not aesthetically pleasing,
so removal is recommended.
Accessory breast removal, surgical methods for accessory breasts
- Tissue suction

When there is little mammary tissue and the accessory breast is not significantly sagging,
a small incision of about 0.3 cm is made along the armpit crease,
and fat and mammary tissue are suctioned out using a cannula.
- Tissue and skin excision

When there is a large amount of mammary tissue and the accessory breast is significantly sagging,
a cut of about 3 cm is made on the inner side of the armpit,
and the fat, mammary tissue, and excess skin are excised.
Accessory breast removal is recommended for these people.

If the armpit area is noticeably protruding
If there is a nipple-shaped lesion in a part other than the chest
If the accessory breast becomes larger according to the menstrual cycle
or there is pain in that area
We recommend accessory breast removal.
