The nose sits at the center of the face and has a major impact on appearance.
Because of this, more and more people are visiting plastic surgery clinics
in hopes of correcting its shape and height.
However, since surgery must consider not only aesthetic correction
but also functional issues,
a more delicate approach is needed than with any other type of plastic surgery.
Crooked noses cause functional problems, so improvement in both function and shape is needed.
When the nose is crooked, it not only looks unattractive,
but also tends to come with functional problems.
A crooked nose can cause nasal congestion, rhinitis, respiratory problems,
and chronic headaches.

A crooked nose refers to a nasal bridge that is tilted to one side.
Crookedness can appear in all four areas:
the nasal bone, the upper lateral cartilage, the tip cartilage,
and the septal cartilage.
Therefore, the surgical scope changes depending on
which area is crooked and by how much.
Crooked Nose Surgery Method

A crooked nose is always accompanied by a crooked tip,
as well as columellar asymmetry and nostril asymmetry.
During surgery, these areas must also be corrected together
to achieve a satisfactory result.
The main cause of tip, columella, and nostril asymmetry is usually
curvature of the upper or lower part of the septal cartilage,
which is located behind the tip cartilage.
In other words, it is caused by a deviated septum.

The septum is a wall-like structure that divides the inside of the nose into two spaces.
It is made up of bone and cartilage,
and can be thought of as the column inside the nose that supports the nasal bridge.
When this column is crooked, it is called a deviated septum.
Because of a deviated septum, the nose is often blocked,
making breathing uncomfortable and sometimes causing sleep disorders
or chronic headaches.
Therefore, when correcting a crooked nose,
improvement of the deviated septum must be performed at the same time.
However, because it may not be visible from the outside,
a precise examination and careful approach are essential.
Director Seoman-gun, who has performed rhinoplasty for more than 20 years,
recently had a paper related to crooked nose correction published
in the international journal of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
He presented his own surgical technique that can effectively correct
the tip, nostrils, and asymmetry at the same time as crooked nose correction,
helping achieve stable and good results.

In addition to deviated septum correction,
Director Seoman-gun also performs inferior turbinate reduction
and nasal valve reconstruction, which are involved in nasal function.
With a strong understanding of nasal structure and consideration of functional aspects,
he performs surgery to improve functional problems
as well as create a beautiful nasal line,
while carrying out crooked nose surgery.
