Acne laser types,
Which one should you get?
(Neobeam, Agnes, Pico Fraxel, Sylfirm X)

“There are so many kinds of acne laser treatments..
What’s the difference??”
We see many people visiting us because of acne. That shows how common this skin concern is.
Because there are so many ways to treat acne, people often find it hard to know which option is right for them.
There are many acne treatment methods, such as acne medication, anti-inflammatory injections, extraction, and laser treatment. Today, I’ll talk about laser treatments among them.
Acne is not just a problem that appears and then disappears.
It is closer to a chronic condition in which sebaceous glands become overactive, pores become blocked, inflammation develops, and scars and marks can remain in the end.
So acne laser types can be broadly divided into two categories.
There are lasers for acne treatment and lasers for acne scars. Let’s go through how they differ one by one.

Types of lasers for acne treatment
The purpose of acne treatment lasers is to suppress excessive sebaceous gland activity and calm inflammatory responses so that fewer new breakouts appear.
Representative laser types include Neobeam and Agnes.
- Neobeam

Neobeam is a laser that uses a 1450nm wavelength to act directly on sebaceous glands in the dermis.
This wavelength is well absorbed by water, heating the sebaceous glands and suppressing overactivity.
Simply put, it helps calm the sebaceous glands, which act as the “factory” behind acne, so that fewer new breakouts occur.
Neobeam causes almost no surface damage and is gentle enough to be performed without anesthesia. You can usually return to daily life right after the procedure.
- Agnes

Agnes works by inserting an insulated needle into the skin and directly delivering radiofrequency (RF) energy to destroy the sebaceous glands.
It is especially effective for chronic acne that repeatedly appears in the same area. It helps suppress recurrence and improve areas with chronic acne.
Types of lasers for acne scars
Acne scar lasers focus on regenerating already damaged skin structure.
Indented scars or pigmented marks are difficult for the skin to heal on its own, so devices that induce collagen regeneration are needed.
Pico Fraxel or microneedle RF procedures serve this role.
- Pico Fraxel (picosecond fractional laser)

After acne subsides, red marks or depressed scars can remain.
Pico Fraxel delivers ultra-short picosecond pulses in a fractional pattern to create micro-injuries in the skin, and in the process, it promotes collagen regeneration.
Laser devices that can be used for Pico Fraxel include PicoHi and PicoSure.
Unlike conventional Fraxel, Pico Fraxel causes less damage to the epidermis and has a faster recovery time.
So after the procedure,
“We saw a lot of improvement in our acne scars.
The pain was also less than we expected.”
were comments we heard often.
- Sylfirm X (microneedle RF)

Sylfirm X is one of the microneedle RF devices.
Very fine needles are inserted into the skin, and RF (radiofrequency) energy is directly delivered to the dermis.
At this time, collagen and elastin regenerate, filling in depressed scars and improving pores and skin elasticity as well.
There is almost no damage to the epidermis, and the downtime is short, so many office workers also seek this treatment.

Then you may be wondering which laser you should choose. First, you need to check your current acne condition.
If you are still in a phase where acne is actively breaking out, it is important to suppress sebum with acne treatment lasers and reduce acne recurrence.

If acne rarely appears anymore and the scars caused by acne are a bigger concern, then it may be the right time to receive acne scar laser treatment.
If scar lasers are done at the wrong time while acne is still active, the acne can worsen.
That is why you should consult with a medical professional about which laser is appropriate.
Today, I explained several types of acne lasers.
We also talked about which laser treatment may be effective depending on your skin condition.
Acne treatment is not simply about “getting rid of pimples.” Real treatment means reducing breakouts now while also preventing scars from being left behind later.
So what matters most is accurately diagnosing your skin’s current condition and choosing the right device and treatment for it.
However, rather than worrying about it alone, I hope you will get a consultation for laser treatment that fits your skin condition.
