A Case of Treating Dark Spots Around the Eyes and Facial Redness

"The dark spots around my eyes are my biggest concern,

and I also want to improve the overall redness on my face."

Hello. Today, I’d like to introduce a treatment case of a woman in her 40s who was concerned about dark spots around the eyes and redness across the face.

She had previously received toning treatment at another clinic, but the results were not significant, so this time she wanted to receive proper treatment.

Let’s take a look at the actual skin condition and talk about how the dark spots around the eyes and overall facial redness were improved.

First, we carefully diagnosed the skin condition with Mark-Vu before treatment.

• Brown pigmentation around the eyes and on the eyelids
• Redness across the face
• Pigmentation located in the dermis

In other words, this was not just epidermal pigmentation, but a complex case involving dermal pigmentation and redness as well, making it difficult to achieve satisfactory results with simple toning alone.

This patient had previously only received toning, but the results were minimal.

Dark spots around the eyes are often located deep in the dermal layer. When redness is present as well, treating only the pigmentation while the blood vessels are dilated leads to reduced effectiveness.

So, to treat both the redness and the brown pigmentation at the same time, we recommended a program that could use different lasers selected each session according to the skin condition.

Since both melasma and redness require long-term treatment, we set a plan to continue consistently for at least 10 sessions.

Let me explain how the treatment progressed by session.

Session 1 (25.09.02)

First, we started with Derma V + PicoSure to address both dermal pigmentation and redness at the same time. Derma V is effective for redness and vascular treatment, while PicoSure is effective for improving dermal pigmentation.

Session 2 (25.09.16)

The melasma around the eyes and pigmentation on the upper cheeks were treated with a ruby laser, and overall tone correction was done with toning. Ruby lasers work selectively on deep pigmentation, making them suitable for treating melasma around the eyes.

Session 3 (25.09.30)

The melasma near the eyes had begun to improve slightly. However, deep melasma cannot be completely improved in just one session, so we continued with ruby laser treatment.

Session 4 (25.10.14)

The patient wanted to improve the effect on the melasma around the eyes a bit more. Since melasma can become darker if the laser output is too strong, we decided to adjust the intensity while monitoring the progress.

Session 5 (25.10.30)

Medication for melasma was prescribed to regulate melanin production. When medication is combined with laser treatment as needed, treatment effectiveness can increase.

Sessions 6–9 (25.11.20 ~ 26.01.07)

The treatment focused on improving redness, tone, and blemishes, and it progressed smoothly without any major issues.

Session 10 (26.01.21) - Mark-Vu imaging

The melasma around the eyes, which had been the patient’s biggest concern, had faded significantly, and the reddish skin tone had also become clearer. She was satisfied with the progress of the treatment and plans to extend it and continue treatment.

Today, I talked about a case of treating dark spots around the eyes and redness with Jamsil laser toning.

Although this patient did not see results from toning alone before, she was able to achieve satisfying results this time because the laser was customized for each session according to the skin condition, and redness and pigmentation were treated together.

Melasma does not disappear after just one or two treatments, and especially when dermal melasma and redness are present together, a combined approach is necessary.
