Hello. I’m Director Lee Seora.
"When choosing an orthodontic clinic in Seoul, what criteria should you use to avoid making the wrong choice?"
There is a concern that people preparing for orthodontic treatment often have.
“Where should I get orthodontic treatment so I won’t regret it?”

There are truly many orthodontic clinics in Seoul, and if you search online, you’ll find countless reviews, before-and-after photos, and promotional content.
But as information becomes more abundant, choosing actually becomes more difficult.
At times like this, what matters most is applying criteria that get closer to the essence rather than flashy phrases.
Rather than simply using the clinic’s size or location as your 기준, you need to carefully examine who is designing and carrying out the treatment, and how the results are being managed afterward.

I have met and counseled many patients over the years.
What I have felt through that process is that good results ultimately come from treatment with a clear philosophy.
So today, I’d like to explain three important criteria that you should definitely consider before choosing an orthodontic clinic in Seoul.
The doctor’s orthodontic philosophy,
why should you ask directly?

As many of you know, orthodontics is not a treatment that ends in a day or two.
It is a treatment process that can take anywhere from a few months to several years, and even after treatment, follow-up care through retainers is needed.
It is not simply about aligning the teeth; it requires a structural approach that considers facial balance, jaw movement, and chewing function.

That is why it is necessary to check what kind of treatment philosophy the doctor in charge of your orthodontic treatment has, through their blog or website.
It is also important to hear directly what criteria they use when making diagnoses and treatment plans.
For example, even with the same symptoms, doctors may differ in judgments about whether to extract teeth, how to correct jaw asymmetry, or how to adjust the bite.
These differences in judgment ultimately have a major impact on the direction and outcome of treatment.

Ask the doctor these questions during your consultation.
“Why do these teeth need to be extracted?”
“Which method will you use to align them?”
“Could there be any issues with this condition?”
If they answer such questions with clear and consistent criteria, you can trust them.
The beginning of treatment can be judged by communication and detailed explanations that patients can understand.
Seoul orthodontic clinics,
don’t blindly trust before-and-after photo ads

One of the materials you’ll see most often when searching for a clinic is before-and-after photos.
Many people judge a clinic by comparison images posted on Instagram, blogs, or the clinic’s website.
But this can lead to misunderstandings.
First of all, before-and-after photos show only the result of a single patient, and there are many factors that influenced that result.

There are many elements that cannot be judged by looking at tooth alignment alone.
For example, teeth may look straight on the outside, but the bite could be unstable, the jaw joint may be under strain, or root resorption or gum damage may also be present.
In addition, before-and-after photos usually show only the most successful cases that have been selected.
If you look only at the photos without an explanation of the full context of treatment—what condition the patient had, what plan was used, and how the treatment was carried out—then it is only fragmentary information.

For this reason, rather than focusing on what is visible in photos, you should also examine how logically and specifically the process leading to those results is explained.
“Why was it treated this way,”
“What concerns were there, and what choices were made”
If the content provided by the clinic includes explanations like these, it can also be said that the clinic is likely practicing with a strong sense of responsibility based on its own treatment standards.
In other words, checking the treatment direction and planning philosophy may be a more essential selection criterion than focusing on visible, fragmentary changes.
Seoul orthodontic clinics,
what is the truth about the
post-treatment management system that matters more than cost?

When choosing a clinic, many people first consider the treatment cost.
Of course, cost is a practical factor and is important.
But what I want to emphasize is how systematically aftercare is handled once treatment is over, no matter how low the cost may be.
Orthodontics does not end with “moving the teeth”; the essence of treatment is also making sure they settle stably in their new position and continue to function properly.

In reality, however, many people neglect their retainers as soon as orthodontic treatment ends or do not receive regular checkups.
If this period is not properly managed, a relapse can occur, in which the teeth return to their pre-treatment state, and in some cases, treatment may need to be started again.
So when choosing a clinic, it is a good idea to check the following items.

-
How retainers are made and how long they need to be worn
-
How many follow-up checkups are scheduled, and at what intervals
-
Whether a written aftercare plan is provided
Because there are many factors to consider when establishing a treatment plan, I also design with the stability after orthodontic treatment ends in mind.

It is also important to provide patients with management plans that reflect the type of retainer, the patient’s lifestyle, and the balance of the jaw and face.
Teeth are structures that must stay with us for our entire lives.
For teeth that have been moved once to remain in place for a long time, scientific and continuous management is necessary.
Therefore, those of you reading my post today should make sure to check whether the clinic takes responsibility for the process after treatment as well.
The right treatment
starts with the ability to see the entire process.

Choosing an orthodontic clinic that you will accompany for a long journey should be done with even more care.
Philosophy over advertising
Process explanations over photos
Aftercare systems over cost
If you judge by these three criteria, I am sure you will be able to make a better choice.
Thank you for reading this long post.
