Hello, we are Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, pursuing natural and beautiful changes.
In general, we have often judged another person’s condition and health through their facial complexion, or skin tone.
A complexion, which is closely related to the skin, can make someone look somewhat tired if the skin appears dull and dark.
When making negative expressions such as feeling depressed, certain areas can also become wrinkled and shadowed, which is another reason a complexion may look poor.
In particular, dark circles are located under the eyes, so they are easy to notice from the center of the face and can easily make someone look sleepy, which can also lead to a misunderstanding of their impression.
However, dark circles are not caused solely by fatigue.
So how should dark circles be improved?
Today, at our clinic, which helps with Apgujeong dark circle surgery, we will explain the improvement methods according to the type of dark circles.
What are dark circles?

Dark circles refer to a symptom in which the area below the eyes appears dark in an oval shape.
However, dark circles like these differ in appearance depending on the cause, and the treatment method also varies.
The three representative causes are as follows.
✅ Pigmentation type
The type of dark circles that many people know about is the one caused by pigmentation.
The main reasons are that the fine blood vessels under the eyes are especially prominent and the skin is thin, making the vessels show through, or that the skin tone in that area is inherently darker.
In the case of women, makeup around the eyes can also lead to more pigmentation developing underneath.
When pigmentation has developed like this, it can be improved with laser procedures.
✅ Sunken under-eye type
This can be caused by the area called the tear trough sinking in, making the area under the eyeball appear recessed and dark.
When the shadow under the eyes is the cause, improvement is possible through fillers, fat grafting, or under-eye fat repositioning.
✅ Fat bulging type
Similar to the sunken under-eye type, this is caused by fat protruding and creating a shadow, making the area appear sunken.
In such cases, Apgujeong dark circle surgery can be performed by removing or repositioning the problematic fat tissue.
If under-eye hollowing or fat bulging is the problem

Among the three types mentioned above, the latter two can be said to have shadows caused by issues with the under-eye tissue as the main cause of dark circles.
In fact, because lighting is especially strong on broadcasts, contours stand out clearly, and people whose under-eyes look particularly dull because of this type of issue can be seen becoming brighter around the eyes through Apgujeong dark circle surgery.
The reasons under-eye fat bulging occurs can broadly be divided into two categories.
First, the fat under the eyes is the fat around the eyeball that exists to reduce impact from direct contact between the eyeball and the orbit (the bones around the eyes).
Usually, it is common for the under-eye fat to protrude downward because there is no bone supporting the fat from birth, or for the fat to bulge out over time as the strength of the fat pouch weakens and the fat spills outward.
As time passes and a person gets older, these symptoms can gradually become more noticeable.
Apgujeong dark circle surgery, what about under-eye fat repositioning?

So how is Apgujeong dark circle surgery performed?
If the under-eye area is bulging and the fat tissue is the main cause of under-eye sagging, improvement is possible through under-eye fat removal and repositioning.
The surgery is performed by making an incision in the conjunctival area, removing adhesions in the tear trough area, and repositioning the fat.
Furthermore, the septum can be reinforced and the fat fixed in place to naturally restore volume under the eyes.
In the case of under-eye fat repositioning, it is an Apgujeong dark circle surgery performed through a conjunctival incision while organizing the under-eye fat and tear trough at the same time, so it has the advantage that scars are not easily visible to the naked eye.
At Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, which introduced dark circle surgery today, we were helping with 1:1 customized surgery based on extensive surgical experience.
Not only did we aim to prevent recurrence through fat fixation and septum reinforcement, but we also expected aesthetically satisfying results by preserving the aegyo-sal.
