Hello. We are Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, pursuing natural and beautiful changes.
In modern society, taking care of one’s appearance can be seen as a way to build competitiveness.
As aesthetic elements have become increasingly important, the ways people change their appearance have also become more diverse.
Plastic surgery has been receiving more attention as a way to semi-permanently change areas of concern.
In particular, rhinoplasty is a popular procedure sought by many people regardless of gender or age because it can change the overall impression and at the same time add volume to the face.
However, rhinoplasty methods vary depending on the specific issues a person has, and many cases require implants, so people often need to look around carefully to find the method that suits them best.
Today, we will explain the features of implants for a low nose and introduce the low-nose surgery we provide at our clinic.
What Is a Low Nose?

When looking at the ideal nose shape preferred by many people, a slim, high bridge and a refined tip come to mind.
This gives a look that is relatively similar to the noses of Westerners.
Compared with Westerners, many East Asians tend to have lower noses.
While the skin and tissue are more thickly developed, the cartilage is more flexible, so as the nose grows, it often appears compressed or bent.
In this way, a low nose is not simply low in shape and height; structural deformation can also be accompanied by symptoms such as nasal congestion and rhinitis.
Therefore, for low-nose rhinoplasty, it is better not only to create an aesthetically pleasing nose by simply using a low-nose implant, but also to consider the functional aspects inside the nose when choosing an implant.
What Are Low-Nose Implants?

Low-nose implants can be broadly divided into artificial implants and autologous implants.
Many people feel 부담 about using artificial implants because they worry about side effects.
However, artificial implants do not necessarily lead to side effects.
When the right implant is used for the individual, each option can highlight its own advantages.
Artificial implants include various types such as silicone, Medpor, Gore-Tex, Silitex, and mesh.
They make it easy to design the shape of the nasal bridge and are relatively less burdensome in terms of cost.
However, depending on the shape and type of the implant, side effects may occur, so careful analysis is needed to choose the implant that is right for you.
On the other hand, autologous tissue mainly uses ear cartilage, septal cartilage, costal cartilage, and autologous dermis.
If necessary, donated costal cartilage or artificial dermis can also be used.
Such autologous tissue has the advantages of a lower burden of side effects and a natural feel, but it also has drawbacks: the amount that can be harvested is limited, and processing is difficult.
How Is Low-Nose Rhinoplasty at Merry?

At our clinic, we identify the type of low-nose implant that is suitable for each patient and raise the nose based on that choice.
In general, when both types of implants are considered suitable, we build up the nasal bridge with silicone and use autologous tissue at the tip to create a more natural look.

Even the Parts You Cannot See

At Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, which introduced low-nose implants today, we say that any rhinoplasty should be customized to the individual in order to expect a highly satisfying result.
Because rhinoplasty has a high rate of revision surgery due to side effects, surgery should proceed only after carefully checking functional defects inside the nose as well.
Our chief doctor, Hong Seong-taek, a board-certified plastic surgeon, helps with 1:1 customized design based on his experience performing surgery on a wide range of patients.
In addition, for the inside of the nose, which cannot be seen with the naked eye, we use 3D CT and 3D remodeling to find the ideal nose shape suited to each person’s condition and help produce results with a reduced margin of error.
