Hello, this is Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, a place where it’s always a pleasure to meet.
Last time, I explained the precautions after lower blepharoplasty, and today I’d like to continue that discussion.

Dissatisfaction with the surgical results
In some cases, even after surgery, the dark circles do not disappear, or
fine lines increase instead after surgery, or
there are unpleasant situations such as the under-eye area becoming uneven.
Why does this happen?
When speaking with people who came in to discuss these issues,
if we analyze the causes, one reason is that the type of dark circles was not properly assessed.
In cases where the skin under the eyes itself is dark or bluish due to pigmentation,
combining laser treatment or other skin-supporting treatments can lead to a satisfactory improvement after surgery.
Therefore, it is important to carefully analyze in advance what type of dark circles you have.
I previously wrote a post about this type analysis, so if you need it, please refer to it.
The second case is when the skin stretches easily or the fat protrusion is severe.
In such cases, after surgery, fine lines may actually appear more prominent.
I explain this phenomenon as the balloon effect.
When a balloon is full of air, the balloon itself looks firm and elastic,
but as time passes and all the air escapes, it becomes wrinkled and loses its elasticity.
When under-eye fat protrusion is severe, after surgery the fat decreases, and the remaining skin can end up looking looser and more wrinkled.

Therefore, after consulting and examining the skin type in advance, it is important to establish a thorough treatment plan.
If you tend to have significant swelling and bruising, light warm compresses and gentle massage can help with recovery.
For about one week to one month, it is better to avoid actions that strain the eyes.

In addition, if dark circles do not improve, it is most important to establish a thorough treatment plan through an accurate diagnosis,
and since dark circles often have multiple causes, the treatment plan should be carefully tailored to the situation.

For pigmentation of the skin, I recommend gradually improving it while receiving skin procedures such as pigment laser treatment,
and if the under-eye area is uneven or the fat graft survival rate is low,
it can be improved through revision surgery, fat grafting, or collagen boosters.
If fine lines around the eyes increase, they can also be corrected by adding skin incision,
and improvement may also be possible through additional procedures such as lifting lasers or thread lifting.
At our clinic, we thoroughly consult with patients in advance,
and when fine lines or skin laxity are expected, we improve them through mini lower blepharoplasty.
Also, if you are sensitive to wrinkles, we recommend deciding on the surgical method through a detailed consultation.
We have looked at the possible side effects with a focus on lower blepharoplasty among under-eye fat repositioning surgeries.
If side effects can be prevented in advance, prevention is the most important thing,
and if they have already occurred, I would like to say that it is best to address them quickly according to the symptoms using the appropriate solution.
