Is that a face-off surgery?

Today, I’d like to talk about the history of lifting surgery first.

In the past, lifting surgery was a very large operation.

In fact, forehead lifts in the past were also performed by making a full incision across the scalp like this.

That is probably why people came to think of it as a face-off surgery.

Lifting surgery refers to pulling up three areas: the upper face starting from the eyes, then the midface, and finally the neck.

This was the beginning of lifting surgery, and as science and medicine gradually developed and became safer and safer,

methods that were less invasive and non-invasive than the large surgeries of the past were devised,

and that is how endoscopic forehead lift surgery came about.

Endoscopic forehead lift surgery?

In the past, everything was incised and the remaining skin was excised,

but now, depending on the surgeon,

about three incisions are made: one or two on the temple side and two on the upper side,

How is the forehead fixed?

You may be very curious about how the lifted area is fixed after surgery and whether that fixation will be maintained well.

After surgery, the forehead is not just lifted and left there to stay in place,

so it has to be fixed somehow on the upper side, and broadly speaking, two methods are commonly used.

First, a bone tunneling method is used to make holes in the bone, fix the threads, and then lift and secure them.

Second, there is a method of fixation using a plate product made for fixation.

You do not feel any foreign-body sensation from the fixation device.

If a fixation device is used, the protrusions in the upper photo help hold it from sliding down from the inside for a longer time.

The developer says it is a material that dissolves and disappears in about 6 to 8 months,

So we usually tell patients that it may be felt for about a year,

and even if it can be felt, it causes absolutely no problem in daily life, so there is no need to worry too much.

Then you may ask, if the fixation device dissolves and disappears, won’t the pulling force weaken and cause it to droop again?

Basically, since it is adjusted during surgery, after that you can think of it as gradually settling down at a very slow rate.

When looking at long-term follow-up, even among patients who came back after 7 or 10 years, it has been confirmed that the result is maintained better than expected.

What are the benefits after surgery?

Above all, patients find opening their eyes much easier and are very pleased.

When you try to lift a dropped brow, wrinkles form, and if you keep straining, headaches can also occur.

But once the brows are lifted with an endoscopic forehead lift, opening the eyes becomes much easier.

That is why I think it is the most functionally complete surgery among plastic surgeries.

Does the forehead get wider?

For people whose skin stretches well, the upward lifting force acts after surgery, so the forehead may become a little wider.

That said, it does not mean it becomes several centimeters wider or anything like that.
