Hello, this is Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, where it’s a pleasure to meet you.
Have you ever felt dissatisfied every time you looked in the mirror because of a low nasal bridge?
Many people consider nasal surgery to create the bridge line they want,
but they often hesitate because they do not know which implant is actually good.
Silicone? Gore-Tex? Or autologous tissue?
There are so many types, and each has different pros and cons, so it’s only natural to feel confused.
Which type of nasal surgery implant is the best? With so much information, it can be hard to sort out.
Today, I’ll clearly organize the various artificial implants used in nasal surgery and the characteristics of each one!

What implant is right for my nose?
The important thing when choosing an implant for nasal surgery is, very simply!!!
You need to consider your skin thickness, the shape you want, and the possibility of side effects.
Artificial implants have the advantage of allowing height to be adjusted more freely and the shape to be refined more precisely than autologous tissue (cartilage).
However, because they are foreign materials inserted into the body, careful selection is necessary!
Shall we look at five representative artificial implants?
1️⃣ Silicone – the most commonly used representative implant
✅ Advantages:
A proven material used for more than 50 years
Can be carved into a variety of heights and shapes
Easy to remove if side effects occur
❌ Disadvantages:
A capsule (membrane formation) may develop due to a foreign body reaction
May show through if the skin is thin
Risk of infection or contracture (capsular contracture)
🔍 Recommended for: Those who want a high nasal bridge or a more defined contour
2️⃣ Gore-Tex – an implant that settles in naturally
✅ Advantages
Has microscopic pores and adheres well to tissue
Less likely to show through even with thin skin
Feels natural to the touch
❌ Disadvantages
If it adheres too strongly to tissue, it can be difficult to remove
Its shape may deform over time
If infection occurs, removal is difficult and major surgery may be needed
🔍 Recommended for: Those who want natural-looking results or have thin skin
3️⃣ Silitex – only the advantages of silicone and Gore-Tex?
✅ Advantages
Silicone’s shape-retaining ability + Gore-Tex’s tissue adhesion
❌ Disadvantages
The disadvantages of both materials may appear together
Currently not widely used (many reported side effects)
🔍 Recommended for: It is rarely used these days
4️⃣ Medpor – an implant as hard as bone
✅ Advantages
High strength, so it is less likely to deform
Adheres well to tissue
❌ Disadvantages
So hard that it can protrude through the tip of the nose
Difficult to remove, with a high level of surgical difficulty
Tissue fibrosis may make the nasal tip feel hard
🔍 Recommended for: Those who want strong support and a firm structure (but careful consideration is needed!)
5️⃣ Mesh – an implant that disappears over time?
✅ Advantages
Absorbed by the body over time
Excellent harmony with autologous tissue
❌ Disadvantages
Because support is insufficient, the shape of the nose may change over time
Not suitable as a nasal tip implant
🔍 Recommended for: Those who want very natural nasal surgery
Has that helped clear things up a bit?
In the end, you need to choose the right implant based on your skin condition and the results you want!
Rather than simply thinking, “This is the best,” remember that choosing the implant that is right for you is what matters most!
✔️ Checklist when choosing an implant!
✅ Is the skin thick or thin?
✅ How much do you want to raise the nasal bridge?
✅ Which is more important: naturalness or a defined contour?
✅ If side effects occur, would it be better if removal is easy?
The implant is important, but what matters even more is having the surgery performed by an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon.
Even with the same implant, the result can vary greatly depending on how it is placed and how precisely it is inserted!
It is important to consult with a specialist at a nearby clinic before making your decision!!
