Hello, this is Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, always glad to meet you.
Have your eyelids become more sunken than before, do your double eyelids fold into three or four layers, and do you often hear that you look tired?

These changes may not be simple aging, but rather sunken upper eyelids and drooping eyelids.
Your eyes look smaller, makeup does not sit well, and it feels like your double eyelids have disappeared.
If you have brushed it off as just getting older... it is time to understand it correctly and respond appropriately.
"Sunken upper eyelids" are not just a cosmetic issue; they are a change that affects your entire impression.
As examples, there are people many are familiar with, such as Mr. Gubonseung, who recently made headlines for upper-eyelid filler, and Mr. Lee Dong-wook, the symbol of the eye hollow.

Have your upper eyelids become sunken?
If you leave double eyelids that fold into three or four layers like this, you may look older.
When the area above the eyes becomes hollow, it looks darker like dark circles and gives the impression that the eyes have become smaller.
Double eyelids may fold into three or four layers, creating a sleepy-looking impression.
Many people also receive feedback that their overall impression looks tired and older.

This is a common concern that more people than you might think experience.
In particular, among female clients in their 40s and older, there are people who say, "My eyes have hollowed out and my double eyelids have become faint," or "My eyes look strange." These changes begin with a reduction in fat in the upper eyelid area and a decrease in skin elasticity due to aging. And as people keep raising their eyebrows frequently, it can also be accompanied by deeper forehead wrinkles. It becomes a total mess.
How can it be improved?
Sunken upper eyelids can be improved to some extent with filler procedures or fat grafting.
If you use a very fine-particle filler, you can achieve both a natural look and stability. Personally, I think with fillers, less is more! I recommend adding small amounts gradually, and even a small amount of about 0.3cc to 0.5cc can change the overall impression.
Depending on the case, eyelid correction or fat grafting surgery may also be performed together.
Although I said this was my personal opinion, most plastic surgeons would agree.
Upper-eyelid filler is an anatomically sensitive area, and if injected in the wrong place or in excessive amounts, aesthetic and functional side effects can occur. Even a small amount of about 0.3cc to 0.5cc can change the overall impression.

Is simply filling the upper eyelid always the solution? No! It is not!!
If too much filler is injected, the filler may sink downward, or the upper eyelid drooping may worsen. Also, because the skin around the eyes is very thin and delicate, if the filler particles are too coarse or the injection depth is not appropriate, translucency or unevenness may occur. For reference, with fat grafting, the size of the extracted fat particles varies, so there is a possibility of unevenness as well.
Moreover, the area around the eyes has complex blood vessels and tissue, so delicate procedures are required. This is also why you should visit a plastic surgeon with sufficient experience. In fact, in actor Gubonseung’s case, it was revealed that he experienced side effects because the filler sank downward.

It has been reported that eye-area fillers can cause not only aesthetic problems but also functional side effects if injected in the wrong location.

Eyelid procedures are not simply about appearance; they involve a sensitive area directly connected to eye function. Rather than just filling it, it is important to consider the strength of eyelid opening, the degree of skin sagging, the double-eyelid line, and the structure around the eye, including the eyeball. In the end, an accurate diagnosis and a customized plan for sunken upper eyelids are important.
If you are worried about sunken upper eyelids, an accurate diagnosis should come first rather than simply filling them.
If you want a natural and clear eye shape,
I recommend consulting thoroughly with a specialist at a nearby clinic.
