Hello, this is Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, glad to meet you.
Have you heard of the Histobulin injection, which is often mentioned as an allergy-improvement injection or rhinitis immunotherapy injection?
My allergy symptoms keep recurring, and daily life is so difficult.
I feel fine while taking medicine, but as soon as I stop, the symptoms come right back.
Many people struggle with various allergy symptoms such as allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, and hives. One immunity-treatment option that has recently been drawing attention for these people is the Histobulin injection.

What is the Histobulin injection?
Histobulin is an injection containing the components “histamine” and “gamma globulin,” and it may help relieve allergy symptoms by regulating immune responses.

Allergy schematic / mechanism of antihistamines
The terms may seem unfamiliar, right? Histamine is a major substance that triggers allergic reactions, and gamma globulin is an antibody protein responsible for immune regulation. When these two are administered together, the idea is that the immune system, having been repeatedly exposed to histamine, forms antibodies against histamine so that it reacts less sensitively to certain stimuli (immune suppression), while gamma globulin (IgG) plays the role of an antibody. In other words, it can be described as an immune-regulating treatment that suppresses hypersensitive responses to allergies.
Antihistamines taken when an allergy occurs suppress the effects of histamine and provide symptom relief (symptomatic treatment), but the Histobulin injection differs in that it works by reducing the allergic reaction itself.
Main effects of Histobulin
-
Relieves symptoms of allergic rhinitis
-
Reduces symptoms of atopic dermatitis
-
Shows improvement responses across allergies, including chronic hives, runny nose, and sneezing
-
Helps restore immune balance
A clinical paper published in the Korean Journal of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2020 also reported that Histobulin showed significant symptom improvement in patients with rhinitis and atopic dermatitis.
Korean Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. 2020;63(1):22-28.
Recommended for the following people
Those taking antihistamines long term but finding that the effect has decreased
Those who want to reduce dependence on medication
Those whose allergy symptoms recur every season
Children or those who have difficulty taking medication regularly (administered at a physician’s discretion)
Administration method and duration
The usual protocol is three injections, once a week.
For adults, the effect is assessed after three injections at one-week intervals; for children, after three injections at 10-day intervals (one cycle). If the effect is judged insufficient within one month, treatment may be repeated for 1–2 additional cycles. After that, injections may also be recommended every 3–4 months to maintain the effect.
The treatment is adjusted individually after consultation with medical staff depending on the patient’s symptoms and response.
It is injected subcutaneously into the arm, buttocks, or abdomen, and one administration takes only a few minutes.
Please also check the precautions before injection
A consultation with a doctor and a review of your allergy history are essential before treatment.
In some cases, mild fever, pain at the injection site, or fatigue may occur.
If you have an immune disorder or a chronic condition, individual assessment is important.
And because it is a gamma globulin (IgG) preparation, the interval with live vaccines must also be considered.

Histobulin is not simply an injection that boosts immunity!
Many people ask, “Is this an injection that boosts immunity?” But Histobulin is closer to a treatment for “regulation” rather than “strengthening” the immune system**. It is best understood as playing a role in suppressing and balancing the immune system in an allergic state where it overreacts.

Various allergy treatment strategies: Histobulin injection / sublingual immunotherapy / antihistamines
Histobulin injection is an attempt not only to suppress symptoms but also to restore balance in immune responses. It may help those who want to improve an allergy-prone constitution over the long term.
