Hello, this is Merry Plastic Surgery Clinic, where it’s always a pleasure to meet you.
Many people feel self-conscious about their side profile every time they look in the mirror, so they slightly turn their head when taking photos or try to avoid showing their nose line on purpose. In particular, a hump nose is often said to make a person look more severe and even older.
We often hear patients ask, “Can it be corrected without an implant?” From my experience, the answer is absolutely yes. Today, I’d like to calmly share a story from the operating room that many people are curious about.

Non-implant hump nose correction,
how is it performed?
In the case I performed, the correction was done using septal cartilage and dermis.
- Using septal cartilage
This is a strong autologous material that can be obtained from inside the nose, and it is useful for smoothing the hump and creating a new line.
- Dermal graft
Tissue from the layer beneath the skin is used as a reinforcing material so that the nose line connects naturally.
- Correction of a deviated septum
While refining the nose line, correcting the deviated septum can also provide the added benefit of more comfortable breathing.
Why do most hump nose corrections not require an implant??
A common trait among hump nose patients is that the nose itself is often large.
In other words, this means there is enough autologous material available to use, such as septal cartilage and ear cartilage.
Therefore, even without inserting an artificial implant, it is possible to achieve stable and satisfying results.
Not only aesthetic beauty, but also an improvement in the nose’s original function of breathing!!
Many patients say this after surgery.
“My nose looks better, and breathing feels so much easier.”
This is not simply a matter of external correction; it is a major change that leads to an improved quality of life.
In particular, when a deviated septum is also present, the breathing improvement after correction becomes especially noticeable.

Before & After (1 week after surgery)
The left side is before surgery, and the right side is 1 week after surgery.
Despite the short recovery period, the hump area was naturally refined, and the side-profile line became much softer.
Above all, the fact that this change was possible without an implant gives patients great satisfaction.
A message from the head doctor
As a plastic surgeon who has been performing rhinoplasty for more than 17 years, what I have come to be certain of is this:
“Not every nose needs an implant.”
With autologous cartilage and dermis alone, it is possible to create results that are both natural and functional.
In particular, hump nose correction can also improve breathing, so it can be a choice that addresses both appearance and health at the same time.
Please remember before your consultation
Because the surgical method varies depending on each person’s nasal structure and condition,
it is most important to find the correction method that is right for you through an accurate diagnosis and consultation.
If you have any questions or experiences to share, you are welcome to leave them in the comments, or you can add the blog as mutual followers and exchange opinions.
For professional consultation, we recommend visiting a nearby board-certified plastic surgeon.
