Bromhidrosis refers to a condition caused by abnormalities in the sweat glands of the underarm area that produces a distinctive odor. The main cause of this condition is the apocrine glands, which are densely distributed in the underarms.

The sweat secreted by the apocrine glands itself is colorless and odorless. However, as bacteria on the skin surface break down the sweat, fatty acids and ammonia are produced, which causes an unpleasant odor.

Symptoms of bromhidrosis include a strong odor, a damp feeling in the underarm area, and yellow discoloration in the underarm area when wearing white clothing.

Another benefit is that the operation time is short, about one hour, and because it is performed under local anesthesia, the burden on the patient is minimal.

SIT surgery for bromhidrosis, which addresses the shortcomings of conventional excisional surgery, is performed through a fine incision of about 3 mm, so it leaves almost no scar.

It also involves little bleeding and pain, allows discharge on the same day without hospitalization, and has a short recovery period of about one week, making it suitable even for busy office workers.

A low recurrence rate is also a characteristic, because it does not simply remove the sweat glands but destroys the sweat glands themselves. Another advantage is that it can be performed regardless of age or season.

The return to daily life varies from person to person, but light activity is usually possible after 2 to 3 days, and normal daily life can generally be resumed after about one week.
