The area that first catches the eye when meeting someone for the first time is the eyes. Recently, as the period of living with masks covering the face has grown longer, the eye shape visible above the mask has come to play a decisive role in shaping a person’s impression.
Double eyelid surgery includes the non-incisional method, partial incision method, incision method, and natural adhesion method, and the surgical techniques are also continuing to develop day by day.
Unlike the incision method, which creates a line by making a full incision in the eyelid, the natural adhesion method has very small and few incision openings, and it fixes the double eyelid line by tying the skin and the levator muscle, making it look more natural. Since a natural double eyelid line can be formed through natural adhesion alone, the line is less likely to come undone and leaves fewer scars, which has attracted the attention of many people. Depending on personal preference and overall facial proportions, an inline, out-line, or in-out line can be chosen.
However, the natural adhesion double eyelid surgery method cannot be applied to everyone. It is suitable for cases where the eyelid skin is not thick, there is little fat, and eyelid sagging is not severe.
Wink Plastic Surgery Clinic Director Choi Seung-hyeop said, “Because of the natural adhesion between the skin and the muscle that opens the eyes, the likelihood of the line loosening is relatively low. The natural adhesion method, which emphasizes a natural look, leaves almost no incision scar when the eyes are closed, and can minimize bruising and swelling, so returning to daily life is relatively quick.”
He also advised, “If you want satisfactory results from eye plastic surgery, the procedure should be carried out after comprehensively considering the individual condition of the eyes, as well as overall factors such as the width and shape of the double eyelid and whether corner eye surgery is necessary. It is important to have sufficient consultation with the surgeon and to establish a systematic surgical plan in advance.”
