Recently, more people have been seeking upper eyelid surgery to improve functional problems with the eyelids. If eyelid sagging has progressed due to aging, it can obstruct the field of vision and cause chafing on the outer corners of the eyelids, so prompt correction is needed for treatment purposes as well.
The upper eyelid refers to the upper eyelid. Upper eyelid surgery is a procedure that removes eyelid skin and recreates the double eyelid line to improve the eyes into a younger, more elastic appearance when the upper eyelid has sagged due to aging and covers the eyes, or when the appearance is unsatisfactory because of the sagging.
Upper eyelid surgery should be considered in cases such as △ the upper eyelid droops and covers the eyes, making the eyes appear smaller and obstructing vision △ the eyes are opened using the forehead and eyebrow muscles because of the sagging △ the existing double eyelid shape is unsatisfactory due to the sagging △ the eyelid skin becomes chafed because of the sagging.
When the eyelid skin is incised for upper eyelid surgery, a scar is inevitable.
However, with a minimal incision and careful suturing, the scar becomes hidden by the double eyelid line or settles like a natural crease over time, so it is not easily visible. However, if too much sagging skin is removed or the double eyelid is made too large without considering skin thickness, the eyes may end up looking wide-open and angry, so caution is needed.
Choi Seung-hyeop, director of Wing Plastic Surgery, advised, "By carefully analyzing the patient's condition and symptoms after considering the individual's eye shape, size, horizontal and vertical proportions, degree of iris exposure, skin elasticity and sagging, the condition of the eyelids, and the amount and distribution of eyelid fat and orbital fat, surgery must be performed with the most appropriate method to achieve a treatment result that is satisfying both functionally and cosmetically."
