Here are the questions patients often ask after double eyelid surgery, explained by Winke Plastic Surgery!

- The double eyelid scar seems redder than before!
After the stitches are removed, the scar may look red and more noticeable, but it gradually changes to white after surgery and recovers naturally. Also, if you keep monitoring it along with the swelling and the scar seems especially severe, you may be prescribed a scar injection and medication to calm the scar.

- The stitched wound around my eyes looks bumpy. Is that okay?
It can look bumpy while the stitches are still in place after surgery. It may remain bumpy even after suturing and swelling, and for up to 2 to 3 months after the stitches are removed, but as time passes and the swelling goes down during recovery, it becomes sufficiently natural.

- It feels like my vision has gotten worse after double eyelid surgery!
Because the eyes may have been irritated after double eyelid surgery, temporary dry eye can occur, and since dryness can temporarily cause astigmatism, it may feel like your vision has worsened. It is important to use artificial tears to keep the eyes from drying out, and although it varies from person to person, this symptom naturally disappears about 2 weeks after surgery, or as long as 3 months.

- The end of my double eyelid line is different from the stitched suture line. Did the surgery go well?
The end of the double eyelid line may differ from the stitched suture line, and this happens because loose skin was removed. The scar from the incision and suturing will disappear over time, leaving only the natural-looking double eyelid line.

- The line at the inner corner looks doubled. Did a double fold form?
The area near the inner corner of the eye has especially thin skin and a steep slope, so it is a place where double folds can form, but after surgery this appearance is caused by swelling. As time passes and the swelling naturally goes down, it will become less noticeable or disappear.

- My eyes feel tight and pulled. How long will this last?
Scars have a tendency to contract as they heal, which can pull the skin toward the scar, and swelling around the eyes after surgery can make them feel pulled. In most cases, this naturally disappears within 1 week to 3 months, and if the pulling is severe, you may also take medication that helps prevent contraction.
