Protruding eyes are difficult to treat and have a high rate of revision surgery, but protruding eye surgery improved with Wink Plastic Surgery’s own expertise!

A protruding eye refers to an eye where, when viewed from the side, the frontmost part of the eyeball protrudes farther forward than the front part of the cheekbone. It can occur due to congenital or acquired causes.

If the end of the orbital bone is narrow from birth, there is less space for the eyes to occupy, making protruding eyes unavoidable. Acquired causes include a condition in which too much thyroid hormone is secreted, leading to toxicity, and one of the symptoms is eye protrusion.

Because protruding eyes are covered by skin over the protruding eyeball, double eyelids can easily loosen, or the line may be set too high, increasing the likelihood of a sausage-like appearance. For protruding eye surgery, it is important to operate with an appropriate line. Also, because the eyeball protrudes, the area above the eye may appear sunken. In that case, upper eyelid fat repositioning can improve the sunken appearance and create a moderate amount of volume.

Protruding eye surgery can be performed with the non-incision method or the incision method. The non-incision method is suitable for people whose eyelid skin tissue is not thick, and for those who find the incision method burdensome or want a faster recovery.

The incision method for protruding eye surgery is suitable when the skin tissue is thick, there is a lot of fat in the eyelid, or skin sagging is severe. It also addresses tired and dull-looking double folds with an appropriately set incision height, and through upper eyelid fat repositioning, it is improved so that it does not recur.

If mascara or glasses touch your eyes while applying makeup, if your eyes easily feel dry or irritated, or if your vision seems to be getting worse recently, you may want to suspect protruding eyes and look into protruding eye surgery.
