Hello, this is Dr. Choi from Wink Plastic Surgery. Today, I’d like to talk about line lowering, also known as the double-line correction incision double-eyelid surgery.

In general, to lower a high and thick double eyelid crease, an incision method must be performed. This is because the existing crease needs to be released and a new crease created below it.

Because the skin of the eyelid is limited, the procedure can be divided into cases where resection is performed (skin is removed) or incision only is performed (skin is preserved), depending on the amount of extra skin.

As for the characteristics of each method, the resection method can lower the crease while removing the existing scar skin when there is extra skin. It is effective when you want to remove the existing scar and lower the crease only slightly.

The method of lowering the crease with incision only while preserving the skin is used when there is not much excess skin. However, because there is not enough skin, it is difficult to completely remove the existing scar, but the crease can be lowered effectively.

Recently, there are also people who want to lower only the thick front line. This is the case when someone wants to lower an overly large outer line to an in-out line or an inner line. In such cases, the skin-preserving method is more effective, and if necessary, ptosis correction or revision of the front canthoplasty can be performed at the same time.

So far, we have looked into the incision double-eyelid procedure for line lowering.
