Hello, this is Director Choi Seung-hyeop of Wink Plastic Surgery.

Today, I’d like to talk about upper epicanthoplasty. Upper epicanthoplasty is sometimes performed at the same time as double eyelid surgery.

First, what is upper epicanthoplasty? As shown in the photo, when the skin at the inner corner of the eye is thick and excessive, especially when there is a lot near the 45-degree inner corner of the eye, this skin can be removed through upper epicanthoplasty. It has the same purpose and goal as inner corner surgery, but you can understand it as being slightly different in direction and technique.

So, who needs upper epicanthoplasty? If the skin at the inner corner of the eye covers a lot when creating a double eyelid, it is worth considering.

What are the effects of upper epicanthoplasty? When the skin at the upper inner corner of the eye is lifted, the line at the front of the eye becomes more visible, and the shape of the eye also appears a little rounder and more expanded.

Then are there any special precautions for upper epicanthoplasty? If the red inner tissue at the front of the eye is already very visible, or if the eyes are close together, it may be better to do only a small amount or not do it at all, so it is best to decide through consultation.

I’ve explained upper epicanthoplasty today.
