Hello, this is Director Choi Seung-hyeop of Wink Plastic Surgery. Many people worry about scarring when they think of “incisional double eyelid surgery.”

In fact, scarring varies greatly from person to person. By race, it tends to occur more easily in Black and Asian people than in White people, and the thicker the skin, the more the healing process tends to become excessive, making scars more likely to remain.

However, even in people with thick skin, the skin of the eyelids is among the thinnest on the body, so compared with other parts of the body, scarring is less likely to remain.

Usually, scars are at their worst about a month after surgery, and after six months, when the healing period enters a stable phase, they settle down a lot compared to the beginning.

In general, it takes at least 18 months for the scar to fully settle. After 18 months, the scar usually becomes much less noticeable.

Therefore, in the long term, there is not a major difference in terms of scarring compared with the non-incisional method.

That concludes our look at incisional double eyelid scarring.
