Hello, this is Director Choi Seung-hyeop of Wink Plastic Surgery. Today’s topic is ptosis in men. Among men as well, some do not have double eyelids and have thick, hooded eyelids that make their eyes look small.

In such cases, creating a thin hidden double eyelid can help improve sagging skin, and if weak eye-opening strength is also present, ptosis correction can be performed at the same time. If the skin is thick, there is a large amount of fat, or the sagging skin is severe, it is helpful to remove the skin or fat appropriately through an incision method; otherwise, surgery can be performed using a non-incision method.

For men, rather than creating a large double eyelid, a thin and small double eyelid is made. If needed, when there is a lot of skin near the inner corner area, it is possible to combine this with medial canthoplasty or upper canthoplasty.

If ptosis with weak eye-opening strength is mild, a non-incision method may be possible, but if it is severe or there is asymmetry between the eyes, an incision method may be more suitable. In the case of an incision method, removal of eyelid fat and similar procedures can be performed more smoothly.

A large portion of ptosis is often due to sagging skin, and in some cases there are people for whom it is enough to perform only a hidden double eyelid with a non-incision method, while in other cases the actual eye-opening strength is weak. It would be helpful to receive a diagnosis through a consultation.

That concludes our look at ptosis correction and hidden double eyelid correction among men’s eye surgeries.
