Hello, this is Woori Plastic Surgery.
Today, together with Director Kang, we will take a look at the different types of facelift surgery. Lifting procedures are divided into facelifts, forehead lifts, neck lifts, full lifts, and mini lifts. Since the effects of each surgery are different, we recommend understanding the types and concepts of lifting procedures before your consultation so you can make a surgical plan.
Facelift

A facelift refers to a procedure that pulls up the lower facial line, excluding the area from around the eyes to the eyebrows, forehead, and glabellar wrinkles. Some patients ask whether the under-eye area is also lifted, but a facelift does not include the nasolabial folds or the forehead, and if procedures such as lower blepharoplasty or a forehead lift are needed, they are often performed together.
Facelifts are mainly recommended for people who want to improve nasolabial folds, sagging cheeks, and a loosened jawline. The main candidates are patients in their 40s to 60s and older whose skin elasticity has significantly decreased.
Full lift

A full lift refers to a procedure that combines a forehead lift, facelift, and neck lift. It is suitable for people whose entire face has aged overall or for those who want an overall lifting effect with a single surgery.
Neck lift

A neck lift is a procedure that addresses vertical wrinkles and pulls up the lower neck. It is rare to perform a neck lift on its own, and in most cases it is performed together with a facelift. In particular, for people in their late 60s and older with very severe neck sagging, a facelift alone may not produce a dramatic improvement in the lower neck area, so many patients undergo both a neck lift and a facelift.
Mini lift

A mini lift is a procedure with a more limited incision range and lifting range than a facelift. Its advantages are a faster recovery and less concern about scarring compared with a facelift. However, because the criteria for what is called a mini lift differ from hospital to hospital, it is important to compare the surgical range and expected effects accurately before choosing.
At Woori Plastic Surgery, the procedure is performed through incisions around the scalp and earlobe. A mini lift is recommended for people in their 30s to early 40s whose skin has not sagged much, or for those with thin skin who want jawline lifting.
For people in their 50s or older, or in cases where skin elasticity has declined significantly, we recommend a facelift for a more definite lifting effect.
Lifting procedures vary depending on age, skin condition, and the areas of sagging. Please note that if you understand the different types of facelifts accurately, you can set much clearer criteria when choosing a clinic or during consultation.
