Hello. This is Woori Plastic Surgery.
When consulting at a recommended liposuction clinic, there are a few questions that many people always ask.
“Does this place remove fat with a machine? Or by hand?” is one of the questions we hear often.
Today, let’s organize the key points to check when recommending a liposuction clinic so we can clearly answer this question.
How does liposuction work?

To suction fat from the body, negative pressure is fundamentally required. In simple terms, there must be a pulling force to draw the fat out.
There are two ways to create this pressure. The first is to create strong negative pressure through mechanical equipment, and the second is to create negative pressure manually by pulling back a syringe. For example, when suctioning only a small area of about 50–100 ml, a syringe may be used, but in the large-volume liposuction that we commonly refer to, most recommended liposuction clinics use a method that creates negative pressure with a machine.
Can a machine suck out fat on its own?

Many people mistakenly think that the machine removes the fat automatically, but in fact, liposuction is ultimately a surgery performed directly by hand. The machine’s role is to create the pressure that assists suction, and how much is suctioned, in which area, and in which direction depends entirely on the medical staff’s manual skill and sense. The machine does not move automatically like AI and remove fat.
What is the role of the machine?

Depending on the condition of the fat and the structure beneath the skin, the medical staff may use the machine together with the procedure. The first method uses equipment with vibration to pass more easily through dense or fibrous fat tissue. The second uses a cannula equipped with ultrasound technology that softens the fat, making suction easier. Both methods receive machine assistance, but in the end, the fat is removed directly by the hands of the medical staff.
Is it less precise if a machine is used?

This is one of the questions asked often. In fact, using a machine does not make suction less precise or ruin the contour. The reason is that the key factor is not the machine, but who removes the fat and how it is done by hand. Suction pressure, movement direction, depth control, and delicate line design are all ultimately determined by the medical staff’s level of expertise, so manual skill is much more important than the equipment itself.

Most liposuction clinics use machines to create pressure and remove fat manually. The machine is only an assisting device; the result is determined by the medical staff’s skill. If you have any questions about recommending a liposuction clinic, feel free to contact us anytime!
