Hello, this is Woori Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’d like to talk about how much liposuction can be done at one time, since this is something many people are curious about.
In particular, people who are traveling from far away or who have busy schedules and find it hard to make time often ask whether it is possible to have full-body liposuction of the abdomen, thighs, and arms all in one day. In fact, there is no fixed standard at a liposuction clinic; it depends on the surgeon’s judgment and the patient’s condition.
Empty space in the body and recovery issues

After fat is removed, empty space is created in that area. Even if you wear compression garments and manage it carefully, some space is inevitably left.
If large areas such as the abdomen, thighs, and arms are treated all at once, a large amount of fluid will accumulate accordingly. In some cases, symptoms such as dizziness or, in severe cases, fainting may occur. For safety, it is important not to overdo it.
Limitations on anesthetic dosage

In liposuction, a drug called lidocaine is used for local anesthesia. Because this drug can affect the heart, there are limits on the amount that can be administered, and the required dose varies depending on height, body type, and fat volume. If several areas are treated at once, the dosage may be exceeded, so it is safer to have the surgery in separate sessions.
Risk of blood clots and embolism

The more fat is removed, the greater the amount of bleeding. If a lump of fat enters a blood vessel, there is a risk of serious complications such as embolism. In such cases, it can become a life-threatening situation in which the lungs or cerebral blood vessels are blocked, so many clinics usually limit the suction volume to around 5,000 cc.
How can liposuction be performed safely?

Rather than forcing too many areas at once at a liposuction clinic, it is better to space out the procedures and proceed in separate sessions. When planning liposuction, the most important thing is to consult thoroughly with your doctor about the areas you want and the safe scope that matches your body condition.
We recommend preparing for liposuction at a clinic through sufficient consultation with your doctor. If you have any questions, please contact us via KakaoTalk.
