As we age, one of the most noticeable signs of aging on the face is “volume loss.”
In particular, hollowing of the lateral cheeks is one of the most common concerns.
Today, I’d like to talk about the Sculptra treatment I personally arranged for my mother :)
I previously posted an explanation of Sculptra, so please refer to that if you’re interested~

Why I Like Sculptra – Original PLLA
Cheongdam Dermatology Sculptra

There are already many explanations elsewhere about Sculptra’s mechanism, ingredients, and effects, so I’ll skip those @.@
Instead, I’ll explain why I like Sculptra.
Sculptra has been used and appreciated as a volumizing and anti-aging treatment for 25 years. Its safety has been recognized to the extent that it has continued to be used for such a long time.
- Natural anti-aging
Rather than inserting a foreign substance, it promotes “the formation of the body’s own collagen.” After injection, it can create natural-looking volume and provide anti-aging effects such as improvements in skin texture, skin tone, and wrinkles.
- Long-lasting effects
When the treatment is repeated three or more times, the effects can last for more than two years. One of its biggest advantages is that frequent touch-ups are not necessary.
Are there no Sculptra side effects or nodules?

When people think of Sculptra side effects, the first symptom that probably comes to mind is “nodules.”
In the past, the product was diluted quite thickly, so there were a considerable number of cases in which nodules developed.
However, since we began using a different dilution method, it seems fair to say that nodule-related issues are now very rare :)

Which areas can be treated with Sculptra?
Cheongdam Dermatology Sculptra
Sculptra can be used on areas of the entire face that need volume, but there are some areas where I do not recommend treatment.
Personally, I do not recommend it for thin areas such as the nose, chin, forehead, under-eye area, or neck.
(There may be differences depending on the doctor!)
This time, I treated my mother’s temples and hollow areas of the lateral cheeks :)
We also plan to continue with the second and third sessions while monitoring her progress!

May 14, 2025: Sculptra treatment / May 15, 2025: One day after Sculptra treatment
The photos above are of the same person, have not been edited in any way, and were uploaded with her consent.
In my mother’s case, her cheekbones are relatively prominent, so filling the temples too much could make her facial structure look larger. Therefore, we plan to gradually add volume to the temples while monitoring her progress!
Since my mother had also often been concerned about her hollow lateral cheeks in everyday life, we treated the area in a way that could produce an immediate change :)
As you can see in the photos, even though Sculptra was added to the lateral cheek area, the midface was lifted and her nasolabial folds improved. Her marionette lines also improved :)
She was very satisfied after the treatment~~
Above all, my mother does not particularly like fillers, so I had been wondering which treatment to choose for her. She actually preferred this anti-aging treatment because it produces such natural-looking results!
Sculptra—can it also be used on the body?
Cheongdam Dermatology Sculptra
Sculptra can be used not only on the face but also on the body.
Although it is not widely performed in Korea, there is a treatment that is commonly performed overseas.
It is called “Hip Sculptra.”

There are several hip-lifting treatments available at Cheongdam Dermatology. For example, “CoreSculpt” can be applied to the hips to help lift them.
Hip Sculptra can also produce good results :)

As summer approaches, inquiries about hip treatments are also increasing.
Since I also prefer natural-looking volume, I recommend Sculptra :)
I recommend Sculptra for people with:
Volume loss, including hollowing of the lateral cheeks, hollow temples, or hollow anterior cheeks due to aging
Overall loss of facial firmness
Improvement of nasolabial folds
Reduced hip volume
Reduced hip firmness
I also regularly use Sculptra for nasolabial folds and loss of volume.
If you have not tried it before, I recommend considering Sculptra treatment after a consultation :)
If you have questions about Sculptra, leave a comment and I’ll respond :)
