Neck Wrinkles at a Cheongdam Dermatology Clinic
These days, dermatology clinics offer a wide range of treatments intended to slow the signs of aging.
There are certain areas we see when we first meet someone. Typically, these include the areas around the eyes and mouth, the nasolabial folds, the glabella, and the forehead. That is probably why so many people take great care of their faces. In most cases, people who carefully manage their facial skin tend to have relatively few wrinkles.
However, if you move your gaze just a little below the face, you can see the neck.
What about neck wrinkles?
Even among people in their 50s and 60s who have regularly visited dermatology clinics—or even among people in their 20s and 30s—there are surprisingly many cases where neck wrinkles are quite pronounced.
Have you ever seen someone who has few wrinkles on their face but many wrinkles only on their neck? It can make the overall balance look somewhat off.
In such cases, taking care of neck wrinkles is essential for true anti-aging care :)
I’ll talk about the causes and types of neck wrinkles, as well as effective treatments available at a Cheongdam dermatology clinic!
Causes of Neck Wrinkles

One of the biggest causes of neck wrinkles is genetic predisposition. Some people have unusually deep neck wrinkles from a young age. For these people, even if they diligently stretch and take care of their neck, the deep wrinkles can easily remain visible.
The second cause is lifestyle habits. These days, practically everyone uses a smartphone, right? However, our posture when looking at a smartphone is often quite poor. Many people have developed the habit of bending their necks forward!!!
If you continue to maintain this posture with your neck bent, wrinkles will repeatedly form in the same area, and over time, those wrinkles will gradually become deeperㅠㅠ
The third cause is aging. As we age, wrinkles deepen not only on the face but also on the neck. In particular, in addition to these horizontal wrinkles, people often describe the fine, crinkled wrinkles that appear vertically as “crepey” wrinkles. The increase in these fine, crinkled wrinkles may be another sign of aging. In such cases, correcting both horizontal and vertical wrinkles is much more effective.
Types of Neck Wrinkles

Neck wrinkles can generally be divided into horizontal wrinkles and vertical wrinkles. Horizontal wrinkles refer to lines that extend lengthwise across the neck, much like the rings of a tree. Vertical wrinkles do not usually appear as deeply etched vertical lines; rather, they often develop as the skin loses elasticity overall.

As I marked in the photo, they can be divided into these two types.
The approach to these horizontal and vertical wrinkles needs to be completely different.
So, I’ll also explain effective treatments suited to each type of wrinkle. :)
Effective Treatments for Horizontal Neck Wrinkles

Belotero Soft
One representative treatment that is effective for horizontal neck wrinkles is dermal filler.
Horizontal wrinkles have already become deeply established, so you can think of them as grooves that have formed in the skin. Something needs to be added to fill these deep grooves in order for the wrinkles to appear less noticeable. Among filling treatments, filler is the most effective option.
I also personally receive neck wrinkle treatments. For horizontal neck wrinkles, I haven’t found anything better than filler :)
However, you should not use just any filler. I have tried several different fillers on my own neck wrinkles.
The uneven appearance that can occur after a filler treatment is called an “embossing” effect. With domestic fillers, this effect sometimes lasted too long and was not aesthetically pleasing. It also took a very long time to settle.
Because the neck is an area with thin skin, even a slightly firm product may easily create an embossing effect that does not go away quickly. Therefore, it is very important to use a filler with a more fluid consistency. Personally, I use Belotero Soft, and it is a product I like very much. For neck wrinkles, Belotero Soft is the product I recommend most. In actual treatments, it also produces the highest level of satisfaction.
However, for people with deep neck wrinkles, it may be difficult to resolve them with just one treatment. Multiple treatments may be needed to improve neck wrinkles effectively.
Effective Treatments for Vertical Neck Wrinkles

Vertical neck wrinkles are often caused mainly by aging. There are several treatments that can help reduce these vertical neck wrinkles, so I’ll explain them one by one below.
Left: Thermage Right: Density
- Lifting Devices Effective for Neck Wrinkles at a Cheongdam Dermatology Clinic
When elasticity has decreased overall, few treatments are as effective as radiofrequency devices. Representative examples include Thermage and Density. Both are monopolar radiofrequency devices, and they are highly effective for improving fine wrinkles and elasticity. Thermage does provide longer-lasting and better effects, but if the cost is a concern, Density is also an excellent option :-)
Ultherapy and Titanium Lifting are also highly effective for improving overall elasticity and fine wrinkles on the neck, so I use them in combination as well :)
Left: Coretox Right: Xeomin
- Skin Botox
Botox for neck wrinkles at a Cheongdam dermatology clinic is actually also used frequently for horizontal wrinkles. It helps improve elasticity throughout the neck wrinkle area and is effective for reducing wrinkles, so it is a treatment I always include when performing neck wrinkle procedures.
Personally, I prefer Botox products with a lower likelihood of resistance. Among domestic products, I regularly use Coretox and Xeomin. :)
Radiesse
- Collagen Injections
These days, we are in the age of collagen boosters. Many different products are being released by various companies, but for neck wrinkles, I prefer and frequently use Radiesse. Compared with other collagen injections, it is suitable for use on thin skin. In actual treatments, the entire neck wrinkle area gains elasticity and firmness after Radiesse treatment, resulting in a high level of satisfaction :)
I also had my mother’s neck wrinkles treated with Radiesse :)
