Hello, this is AB Plastic Surgery!
Today, we will look at men’s eye surgery :)

These days, many male patients are also very interested in eye surgery and appearance.
Many come in with actual before-and-after photos, photos of celebrities, or photos of SNS stars.
The common point of the photos they bring is that they prefer eyes that look natural but not obvious,
with a longer horizontal width and a clear, refreshed eye shape, and many want an inner double eyelid that is close to a monolid.
So, in most cases, we recommend removing the part where the pupil is covered with a subtle inner double eyelid
and performing natural eye correction so that the strength of opening the eyes becomes clearer, the eyes look longer,
and the double eyelid is barely visible.

When we suggest incision double eyelid surgery to men, many are surprised.
Because the line is not as high as it is for women, swelling and recovery tend to be relatively faster,
and since the surgery can be designed and combined with eye correction in a way that does not look awkward,
there is no need to worry.
If there is no need to make an incision but an incision is made anyway, it can leave a scar.
Conversely, if an incision is needed but a non-incision method is used, a revision surgery may be needed later,
which is also a loss.
That is why it is important to proceed in a way that suits the patient.
Also, since men usually do not wear makeup, they may be sensitive to scars,
but because the double eyelid line is low, scars are less noticeable than in women.
However, because the double eyelid is thinner than in women, there may be a higher chance of it loosening over time.

Men’s canthoplasty procedures may not be necessary in cases where the bridge of the nose is high and there is a nose hump,
because the epicanthic fold is pulled forward and the angle is good.
However, if the eyes are small because of the epicanthic fold, medial canthoplasty is recommended.
It can change a steep angle into a more parallel look and create a longer, more refreshed appearance.
Lateral and lower canthoplasty also do not often cause problems with scarring,
so they may be helpful depending on the patient.
