Hello, this is AB Plastic Surgery :)
Today, let’s take a look at incisional double eyelid surgery!

Unlike the non-incisional buried suture method, this is one of the methods for creating double eyelids by directly incising and manipulating the skin and tissue.

First, if the eyes have a lot of fat and are thick, the non-incisional method may easily loosen, so the incisional method is recommended.
Second, this is when the skin is significantly stretched and sagging.
This is because after creating the double eyelid, the remaining skin tissue must be removed.
Third, this is when there is a difference in the strength used to open each eye, making incisional eye correction necessary.
Fourth, this is when the desired line and height cannot be achieved with buried sutures.

First, compared to the buried suture method, it has the advantage of being less likely to come loose.
Second, tissue removal is possible.
Third, direct manipulation of the inner eyelid muscle is possible.
Fourth, compared to the buried suture method, there is a wider range of options for line height, length, and eye correction, allowing surgery to be performed closer to the patient’s ideal eye shape.

Because the skin is directly excised, scars can form and the recovery period may be relatively long. Also, depending on the case, a revision surgery may only be possible with the incisional method.

It does leave a slightly more noticeable scar, but it does not necessarily make the surgery look very obvious.
This can vary depending on the patient’s skin condition, constitution, and the surgical method.

The most important thing is to apply cold compresses with pressure immediately after surgery to prevent swelling from building up and to constrict blood vessels, which can minimize bleeding and fluid discharge.
It is also important to keep your head above heart level, and a low-salt diet that avoids salty and spicy foods, as well as moderate movement such as walking, can also help manage swelling.

If the fold has loosened once, there is a chance it may loosen again, but revision surgery is possible with the natural adhesion method as well.
However, because it may loosen again, the incisional method is recommended a bit more.
If you want to raise the double eyelid line compared to before, and there is not severe skin sagging, the buried suture method or natural adhesion method may be possible, but if the skin sagging is severe, the incisional method is recommended.
If you want to lower the line after previous buried suture surgery, natural adhesion may be possible after removing the buried sutures and creating a new line. However, if removing the buried sutures is difficult, the previous line can be loosened with the incisional method and surgery can be performed with a new line.
If you previously had incisional surgery and want to lower the line, it is better to release or excise the previous adhesion and perform the incisional surgical method.
