Hello, this is AB Plastic Surgery.
Today, together with Director Bae In-ho,
we will learn about lifting.

Lifting has several stages, from the simplest to the most complex.
The simplest is laser, followed by thread lifting, and then a facelift.
The surgical method is determined according to the patient’s age and condition, as well as what the patient wants.

In general, older patients have more sagging and want a more dramatic tightening effect, so the older the patient, the more often a facelift is needed.
For younger patients, laser or simple thread lifting procedures may be enough to improve the appearance.
However, it is not always determined strictly by age; the surgical method can be chosen based on the patient’s skin condition and the direction they want to take.

For people who have been receiving ongoing treatments such as laser or thread lifting, even as they get older,
skin aging does not progress as much, and their skin tends to stay firm with less sagging.
So if you have the time, financial means, and the right circumstances, we recommend regular care.

However, if the skin is thick, if there is more facial fat, or if you have oily skin, the effectiveness of these treatments is relatively lower, so results may vary depending on the patient’s condition and circumstances.

There are many different types of threads, which can broadly be divided into dissolvable and non-dissolvable threads.
Non-dissolvable threads are usually silicone threads with elastic, rubber-band-like resilience,
while dissolvable threads are rigid threads with barbs.
So depending on the facial area and the degree of sagging, different methods may be applied,
so it is best to discuss carefully with the attending doctor before deciding.

Facelifts are not only necessary for older people; there are also cases where younger people need them.
In particular, among people who have undergone contouring surgery, some experience rapid skin sagging,
and lifting may be needed to tighten the sagging tissue somewhat.
In such cases, because the sagging has progressed more than expected for their age,
a facelift may be recommended.
For older patients, many are generally quite afraid of surgery, so not everyone can be recommended for an operation.
There are also cases where anesthesia is not possible because of underlying conditions or medications they are taking,
or where bleeding must be minimized.
For these patients, the choice cannot be made based only on the surgical effect,
so in some cases thread lifting may be recommended instead of a facelift, and combined procedures such as fat grafting or liposuction may be suggested to achieve better results.
Today, we briefly looked at lifting.
