let’s learn about Ultherapy.

Ultherapy is a medical device approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for lifting the brows and sagging jawline,

and for improving wrinkles.

Using micro-ultrasound, it is a medical device that can reach the deep fascia layer without damaging the skin surface,

and it is also a representative high-intensity focused ultrasound, or HIFU, device.

Using the Ultherapy tip, the tip is placed in close contact with the skin surface and ultrasound energy is delivered. At this time, patients may feel a slight tingling sensation and pain.

The effect of Ultherapy is based on concentrating ultrasound energy within the skin

to generate heat and rejuvenate the skin.

It is intended to contract and regenerate the fascia layer, reduce the subcutaneous fat layer, and regenerate the dermis.

So after Ultherapy, the skin feels firmer, as if it is tightly attached to the bone,

and you may feel that your face looks smaller.

What makes it a little more special compared to other devices is that it is an FDA-approved medical device,

and during the procedure, we can actually see the ultrasound, so we can check inside the patient’s skin while performing the treatment,

allowing for safe and precise treatment. It is also the HIFU device with the longest history among HIFU devices.

It is recommended for people who feel as if their skin is sagging,

or who have a lot of facial fat and looseness and want their face to become a little smaller.

Ultherapy is a good laser treatment, but it does have drawbacks.

First, the high price.

Even though it is affordable, we do not perform it in a mass-production style; we use genuine tips and never reuse them.

Second, pain.

Because the effect is so good, the pain is also a little greater than with other HIFU devices. At AB Plastic Surgery,

for patients who are sensitive to pain, we use a topical anesthetic cream before the Ultherapy procedure, and for some particularly sensitive patients,

we use gauze inside the mouth. Also, if you have not had a sleep procedure within the past month,

surgical treatment is possible too :)

Third, subcutaneous fat reduction.

This is both an advantage and a disadvantage of Ultherapy. For people with a lot of facial fat,

they may feel that their face becomes smaller and their skin becomes smoother through subcutaneous fat reduction,

but for those with very little fat, if the procedure is performed without properly assessing the face,

the facial line may become more uneven and a hollow-cheek symptom may appear.
