Hello, this is AB Plastic Surgery.
Today, together with Director Shin Hee-ji,
let’s take a look at cases in which Ulthera is not recommended.

Ulthera is a medical device approved by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) for lifting the brows, sagging jawlines, and improving wrinkles.
It is a laser that uses micro-ultrasound and is designed to non-invasively target contraction and regeneration of the SMAS layer, atrophy of the subcutaneous fat layer, and regeneration of the dermis.
For this reason, after Ulthera, you may feel that your face becomes a bit smaller and that sagging skin is pulled into a firmer, more defined position against the bone.
However, there are some people for whom Ulthera is not recommended.

First, it is not recommended for people who do not have much facial fat.
After hearing that it improves skin elasticity, some people with little facial fat may misunderstand and come expecting Ulthera to make their face feel fuller.
For example, if the side of the cheeks has hollowed out, you may wonder whether Ulthera will lift it up with more volume.
However, Ulthera does not fill in hollowed areas.

In addition, one of Ulthera’s effects is that it causes atrophy of the subcutaneous fat layer, which can make the face feel smaller.
For people who do not have much facial fat, the fat may shrink even more, which can make the skin appear more sunken or give a tired-looking impression.

Second, it is not suitable for people who expect an excessive lifting effect.
Ulthera is indeed an effective lifting laser, but if you are expecting the kind of lifting effect that comes from a facelift, pulling the skin tightly, you may feel that there is little difference after the procedure.
If you expect a line pulled tight by hand, your satisfaction will naturally be 0%.
As we age, skin can feel like it is sliding down off the bone, but if the procedure is performed in a way that suits your own face, you may feel the lines become more refined and the skin fit more closely against the bone.

Personally, I do not recommend trying to solve everything about the face with just one lifting procedure.
I recommend choosing a treatment that suits your own face and skin condition.

For example, if the side of the cheeks is hollow but the marionette lines are sagging, filling the hollow area with filler or fat grafting and refining the sagging area with Ulthera can help you achieve a smoother, more lively facial line.
Today, we looked at the types of people for whom Ulthera is not recommended.
Rather than looking only for a famous procedure or device, please find a lifting method that suits you and proceed with it.
