Hello, this is AB Plastic Surgery.
Today, we’ll learn about Thermage with Director Shin Hee-ji.

'Thermage' is a procedure that uses monopolar radiofrequency energy to improve the skin through thermal stimulation of the dermis layer.

Thermage delivers 'radiofrequency energy' to the skin and transmits thermal stimulation to the dermis through electrical current.
When thermal stimulation is applied to the skin, skin regeneration occurs, and during regeneration the skin produces 'collagen.'
As collagen regenerates, the skin becomes thicker and elasticity improves, which can help improve fine wrinkles.
It also provides skin tightening.

This can be seen as both a characteristic and a downside of Thermage.
For people who are a bit older, Thermage alone may have somewhat weak effects.
Strictly speaking, in many cases Thermage needs to be combined with other procedures to see sufficient results.

Because Thermage is an expensive procedure, some people expect dramatic results while considering the cost.
It is true that Thermage thickens the skin and improves elasticity, but it does not completely erase fine lines or restore the skin to that of someone in their 20s.
That is why people in their 60s or older who receive Thermage alone may feel somewhat disappointed or get less-than-satisfying results.
In particular, when skin sagging is severe, satisfaction may be higher when it is combined with other procedures.
However, being in your 60s or older does not mean Thermage is always ineffective, so we recommend deciding whether to undergo Thermage after consulting with a doctor.

The level of pain during a Thermage procedure varies from person to person.
However, to explain why it is generally felt to be painful, first, sufficient energy delivery is essential because thermal energy must be delivered to the dermis layer for skin regeneration to occur.

Because Thermage delivers more energy than other procedures, it seems to be regarded as relatively painful.
In particular, if the skin has aged significantly, more energy may be required, so the pain can be more intense.
If you feel that you absolutely cannot tolerate pain, you may be concerned, but there is no need to worry too much because it can be done more comfortably through anesthesia.
For this reason, rather than simply being afraid because of the pain, we recommend discussing it thoroughly with a doctor and deciding how to manage the pain before undergoing the procedure.
Today, we took time to explain what Thermage is, what effects it has, and answer various questions.
One additional point I would like to mention is that rather than receiving Thermage just once, it is recommended to have it repeatedly on an ongoing basis.
Since most procedures show greater effects when received consistently, we recommend having it once or twice a year.
