Hello~ This is AB Plastic Surgery.
We will select one of the questions many of you have asked and answer it through this blog!
Q. At what age can you get your first nose surgery?

AB. To give the conclusion first,
“Nose surgery is possible after the growth of the nasal bone and cartilage has completely stopped,” and
for East Asians, the time when the growth of the nasal bone and cartilage stops is roughly “around 15 years old for girls and 16–17 years old for boys.”
To put it more simply, “from around the second year of high school, you can consider nose surgery.”
Around this time, nose surgery is possible, but since the growth rate can differ from person to person,
“we do not recommend surgery at an excessively young age.”
If you look at the nose surgery process, the periosteum of the nasal bone is dissected and silicone is inserted so that it adheres well to the bone, and the tip of the nose is raised using autologous cartilage. At this time, the septal cartilage is dissected and cartilage grafting is performed based on it. After surgery, scar tissue can inevitably form during the process of tissue adhesion, and because these tissues go through a process of hardening and then loosening, they can interfere if growth is still ongoing. In other words, if you look at the surgical process, it can affect the growth of the bone and cartilage.
If you are concerned that you are young and that the growth rate differs from person to person,
you can get a sense of whether you are still in a growth period through the growth plate.
Of course, growth differs by body part, but if you confirm that the growth plate is closed before surgery, you may feel more reassured.
A growth plate test can be checked through a wrist X-ray.
