You asked about the timing of revision eyelid surgery. This is a topic on which most plastic surgeons have little disagreement.

The basic principle of revision eyelid surgery is to wait until at least 6 months after the previous surgery.

This is because around that time, the scar tissue from the previous surgery matures and the hardness of the scar tissue becomes softer.

If surgery is performed before 6 months, it means operating again while the scar tissue is still immature and firm.

As a result, the scar tissue may become more severe after surgery, and it may be difficult to achieve the best results.

Therefore, it is advisable to proceed with revision eyelid surgery starting 6 months after the previous operation.

However, there may be some exceptions.

For example, if the tissue infection and inflammation are so severe that early intervention is required, if double eyelid surgery and ptosis correction were performed together,

and the ptosis correction was overcorrected or undercorrected to such a degree that early re-correction is needed (in this case, changing the double eyelid line is absolutely not recommended. Only incision along the existing line is possible.),

or if dissatisfaction with the double eyelids is so severe that it causes extreme psychological distress for the patient, or if the previous surgery was performed without an incision and the folds came undone before 6 months had passed, and the patient wants to restore the original line, these may be applicable cases.

Meanwhile, whether swelling lasts longer after revision eyelid surgery seems to vary from person to person.

When revision eyelid surgery requires additional procedures such as making a second line, or when a more invasive technique than the original method must be performed, swelling may last longer.

However, if the procedure is done in a way that is not very different from the original double eyelid surgery (for example, when the fold has loosened and the original line is recreated as it was before), the recovery period is likely not to differ greatly from the original.
