Q. My nose is very crooked. Is it possible to correct it with nose surgery?

AB. It depends on how the nose is crooked, but when people say their nose is crooked, they often mean that the bridge of the nose, which runs from the glabella to the tip, does not descend in a straight line and instead bends diagonally to one side.

In some cases, a pronounced hump on the bridge makes the nose feel uneven rather than smooth, and this is also described as being crooked.

In either case, it can be corrected with surgery.

Usually, the direction is corrected by dissecting the bridge area, creating space, and then inserting a silicone implant.

If needed, surgery to adjust the nasal tip may also be performed at this time, and when the septal cartilage inside the nose is significantly deviated, that area is often corrected as well.

Therefore, for an accurate analysis, it is important to look not only at facial photos taken with a camera, but also at CT (computed tomography) images to examine the internal structure.

There is one more thing I would like to mention: surprisingly, most people’s noses are not positioned exactly in the center.

Very few people have a nose that lines up perfectly with the line connecting the exact center of the eyes, the exact center of the cheeks, and the exact center of the chin.

Because of that, even if the nasal bridge is drawn straight down from the exact center of the glabella, the face itself is not symmetrical, which can make the nose look crooked again.

There are also rare cases where a person thinks their nose is crooked and corrects it, only to feel that the result looks even more slanted.

That is why it is important to analyze your own facial direction carefully and determine which direction the nasal bridge should be adjusted toward and how.
