Hello, this is Dr. Seohan Eol Seo from AB Plastic Surgery.
I wrote this post to answer the questions you have been curious about.
Q. I’m considering double eyelid surgery, but I’m worried it will turn into thick double eyelids like sausage eyes. Are there eyes that are more likely to develop sausage eyes?
A. What people commonly call “sausage eyes” after double eyelid surgery refers to a shape where the area below the double eyelid line looks puffy and swollen.
The line is set too thick and appears protruding. In such cases, the eyelids can look heavy and give the impression of being constantly swollen, so it is generally not a preferred look.
This kind of result usually can happen due to the individual’s eye characteristics and surgical factors.
First, in terms of personal features, if the upper eyelid has a lot of fat or the skin is thick, sausage eyes can be more likely compared with cases where these are not present.
Also, this problem can occur when the desired line is an excessively high outer line.
Surgical factors include cases where ptosis is not adequately corrected or when too much muscle and soft tissue are removed.
Because correcting this kind of design is even more difficult, it is important to consult with a specialist before the first surgery and choose an eye shape that does not create this kind of design and suits your face well.
