Hello, this is AB Plastic Surgery.
Today, together with Director Jo Dongpil,
we’ll take a look at photos of a patient who had surgery at our AB Plastic Surgery clinic
and learn about the 3-type facial contouring surgery.

Overall, looking at the patient’s face shape, you can see that the face appears somewhat long.
Among the areas that look long, the midface and the lower face both appear a little elongated.
Other than the face looking long, the patient did not seem to have any major complex about the overall facial appearance.
However, there were concerns about the face looking long and a slight asymmetry extending from the philtrum to the chin tip, so we planned to proceed with contouring in a way that would refine the face naturally.

From the 45-degree angle, you can see that the distance from the eyes to the chin tip looks a little long,
and it is also clear that the midface and lower face look elongated.
The patient said they strongly disliked the blunt impression created by the square jaw and chin tip.
We selected a surgical approach that would subtly reduce the protruding areas visible from the 45-degree angle,
and at the same time, secure the cheekbone from the side upward to offset the impression of a long face while also helping prevent skin sagging.

Between the two methods, V-shaped osteotomy and T-shaped osteotomy, we considered the nerve line and facial length and decided that T-shaped osteotomy would be the more appropriate method, so we proceeded with surgery using T-shaped osteotomy.

Because of hollowing in the temples and outer cheeks, we could see that the face shape was more uneven and less smooth.
So today, we focused on improving the patient’s long-looking and asymmetrical face shape through the 3-type contouring procedure: square jaw surgery, chin tip surgery, and cheekbone surgery.

Looking at the face from the front after surgery, the face shape visible in the midface did not actually become shorter than before surgery, but it created the effect of appearing shorter.
The length from the corners of the mouth to the chin tip became much shorter, and the blunt impression seen from the side of the chin tip was also greatly reduced.
The areas that had caused significant concern due to slight asymmetry before surgery were greatly improved through the operation.

The square jaw line extending down from below the ear is very naturally defined,
and we can say that the face was improved to look less long through an upward fixation that was not too excessive, creating a lifting effect.
In addition, by improving the hollow areas in the temples and outer cheeks, the unevenness of the face was greatly reduced,
and overall, the surgery helped enhance the three-dimensionality of the face.
Postoperative photos may differ from reality due to the shooting environment, lighting, makeup, and other factors.
Results vary from person to person, and you can confirm the procedure results that are suitable for you through an accurate consultation.
In fact, after undergoing this type of 3-part contouring surgery, one of the most common questions patients ask is about swelling after surgery.
In practical terms, it does not require a very long recovery period, and usually about a little over one week, or up to around two weeks if it takes longer, is thought to be enough to return to daily life without problems.
Today, we explained this by looking at a real patient who underwent 3-type contouring surgery at AB Plastic Surgery.
