Hello, this is AB Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’d like to talk about the implant-free nose surgery that I often perform and am confident in.
Recently, the trend in rhinoplasty has moved away from the old approach of making the nose unconditionally flashy and high, and toward a natural nose that suits each individual.

(Left) Song Hye-kyo, (Right) Hae-rin
If you look at the noses of Song Hye-kyo and Hae-rin, which are traditionally considered beautiful noses, both are of course very pretty and are the kind of noses that people who perform rhinoplasty like. However, there is a subtle difference. Song Hye-kyo’s glabella and nasal tip are overall higher, while Hae-rin’s nasal tip is expressed as higher than the glabella.
Also, among the people who come for consultations, there are quite a few whose glabella is not that low. If people like this want a nose that matches the recent trend and suits their face, implant-free surgery becomes the appropriate method.
- What is implant-free tip surgery?
Implant-free tip surgery literally means operating on the nasal tip without using an implant such as silicone.
- Who is it suitable for?
The following people are suitable for nasal tip surgery without an implant.
In terms of type, it is usually good for people with a large, well-developed nose. These people often have a large facial skeleton, a hump on the bridge, large and well-developed cartilage, and a long face.
- How is the surgery performed?
The surgical method is not greatly different from surgery that uses silicone. However, there are differences in the design.
First, if only the nasal tip is made too high, it may end up looking like Pinocchio, so it is important to set an appropriate nasal tip height.

(Yellow) Appropriate height, (Red) Excessive height; it looks like Pinocchio.
Second, even if only the nasal tip is raised, the area connecting to the nasal bridge (the supratip area) must be properly filled with tissue such as cartilage. Otherwise, a step-off will occur.

(Purple area) The area that needs to be filled with cartilage; if not filled, a step-off will form.
The cartilage used to fill this step-off is usually ear cartilage. This is because septal cartilage is mostly used to raise the nasal tip, and even if some septal cartilage remains, it is harder than ear cartilage, so it may be felt near the skin.
Today, I talked about implant-free nasal tip surgery.
Many people worry that all nose surgeries use implants, but you can create a good shape without an implant as well, so please do not worry too much and come in for a consultation.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I will answer.
Thank you. :)
