Hello. I’m Director Seo Chan-eol of AB Plastic Surgery.
I’ll answer the question many of you have been wondering about regarding rhinoplasty!
If you had surgery after a nasal bone fracture, let’s look at whether it will affect future plastic surgery and how much time should pass before it is safe to proceed.
If you had surgery after a fracture, it is best to undergo rhinoplasty only after the fracture site has stabilized at least to some degree. During rhinoplasty, an implant is inserted directly over the bone, and in order to maintain the shape of the bridge of the nose without deformity in the long term, stabilization of the nasal bone is essential.
Also, because protrusion or deformity may occur during the healing process of the bone, some time should pass even after the bone has healed in order to take these changes into account when performing surgery.
Therefore, waiting at least about 6 months before undergoing rhinoplasty can be said to be appropriate both functionally and aesthetically. After that amount of time, the fracture site in the nasal bone will have stabilized to some extent, allowing for stable support, and since external deformity or protrusion may have already occurred, these can also be corrected together.
