Today, we’ll use before-and-after rhinoplasty photos to look at what kinds of effects and changes can be created.

The patient in the photos came to our clinic because they had a low nose and a blunt tip, and wanted a glamorous rhinoplasty with added height.

I remember that they wanted to change their overall impression from one that seemed a bit innocent and quiet to something more refined, urban, and defined.

From the side view as well, the nose was quite low and had a straight bridge line,

and after surgery, the desired nose shape was a straight-but-slightly-curved line with a raised bridge.

The patient also had rhinitis and sinusitis, which made breathing through the nose uncomfortable, so they also wanted that part improved.

Because the nasal tip needed to be raised quite a bit, we decided to use rib cartilage to serve as a strong supporting column,

and since the patient wanted to use their own rib cartilage, we harvested the patient’s right rib cartilage and used it.

These are the photos after surgery.

About 3 cm of autologous rib cartilage was harvested and used to build a support pillar for the nose, and to improve the bluntness of the nasal tip,

we removed tissue from the tip to make it appear sharper while also adding septal cartilage to elevate the nasal tip.

You can see that the nose looks more defined from the front, and in the upward-looking photo you can also see that the nasal tip has become much higher.

Although it is not easy to see in the photos, when touched there was a slight hump and a protruding bony part of the nose,

so we performed hump correction together and used an implant.

The implant was a 7 mm nasal tip height piece, shaped to match the patient’s nose size and form.

As you can see from the photos, a straight-but-slightly-curved line rising upward has been created,

and you can also see a bridge line that connects naturally from the glabella.

Since the patient also wanted surgery for rhinitis, we moved the inferior turbinate outward to widen the airway for breathing through the nose,

and the patient expressed satisfaction, saying that breathing became easier after the swelling went down one month after surgery.

From the moment the first splint was removed after surgery, the patient expressed a great deal of satisfaction and was very happy, so I remember feeling very joyful as well.

I told them that as time passes, the result would look even more natural and the scar would become less noticeable, and I ended the visit on a positive note.

When rhinoplasty is performed according to the changes and goals a person wants, their impression can change a lot,

and in many cases, it becomes possible to transform into the image they want.
