Hello, this is Director Seo Chan-eol of AB Plastic Surgery.
Today, let’s go over some of the questions you may have about rhinoplasty.
Q. I have a severe hump nose. Can it be completely, completely removed? What materials are used?
A hump nose generally refers to a nose shape where the bridge is developed, but the tip droops downward.
In general, it has the advantage of a high bridge, but the tip does not make good use of that advantage, which can be disappointing.
To improve a hump nose, the developed bridge is refined as much as possible, and the drooping tip is lifted to create a new nose line.
There are two main ways to fill in the refined bridge, depending on the desired nose shape.
First, if you want a taller nose with more dimension, the tip is raised using human tissue material, and the bridge is reinforced with an implant.
In this case, because the starting point of the nose is already high due to the hump, it is necessary to refine it as symmetrically as possible, and an implant with a thin upper portion should be selected.
Second, if you want a natural change that preserves the high part of the original nose and only improves the drawback of the drooping tip,
both the tip and the bridge will be treated using human tissue material.
I hope this was helpful for the part you were wondering about, and I’ll wrap things up here.
