Hello. I’m Dr. Gyu-sang Jo from AB Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’ll answer the question of whether osteotomy is always necessary for hump nose surgery in men.
Q. When having hump nose surgery for men, is osteotomy always necessary?
Osteotomy is not always required for hump nose surgery.
The appropriate surgical method varies depending on the type and condition of the hump nose, and whether osteotomy is needed is determined by each person’s nasal structure and surgical goals.
In mild cases of hump nose, it may be corrected by shaving down the protruding cartilage or bone, and osteotomy may not be necessary.
However, in severe cases of hump nose, osteotomy may be needed to narrow the widened nasal bridge after removing the protruding portion.
Even in such cases, if the surgical plan includes using an implant to compensate for a wide nasal bridge, osteotomy may not be necessary.
In conclusion, hump nose surgery is not a fixed method that always requires osteotomy, but rather it can involve various approaches depending on the individual’s condition.
It is important to choose the most suitable method through an accurate diagnosis and consultation with a specialist.
